In this exclusive Commercial Integrator interview, Robert Detwiler of Planar offers a glimpse of what InfoComm 2025 showgoers can look forward to seeing at the company’s booth.
Planar is showcasing an expanded lineup of LED innovations for both indoor and outdoor applications. The company has introduced and upgraded eight platforms this year, including the Planar DirectLight family of LED displays. Notable releases include the Planar DirectLight Essential Series, Planar’s first COB (Chip On Board) product, and upgraded Planar DirectLight Pro Series models featuring microLED technology for improved brightness, energy efficiency, and color performance.
Planar’s DirectLight Essential Series
Planar’s DirectLight Essential marks the company’s first product featuring COB technology, a development that reflects years of industry advancement. According to Detwiler, COB offers significant benefits, including a production process that reduces the cost of entry for LED technology and natural features that enhance efficiency and power management. Planar has taken a deliberate approach to refine this technology.
Detwiler says, “We want our COB to be better than everything that’s out there…we are investing in both process and components [to be best in class].” By incorporating driver ICs for improved color capabilities and efficiencies, as well as implementing rigorous sorting of individual LED dyes to ensure uniformity, Planar has worked to elevate the quality of its COB implementation. This emphasis on precision and innovation underscores their commitment to delivering superior LED solutions to address the varied requirements of the pro AV industry.
Planar is also showcasing new offerings from the Leyard product family designed for diverse customer needs, including competitive price points and flexible configurations.
At Booth 1926, attendees can explore these innovations.
