How Integrating Energy with AV Can Boost Your Bottom Line

Reduce miscommunication, save time and increase sales with AV power solutions.>

AV integrators have plenty of reasons to avoid infrastructure projects these days. Coordination can be a nightmare – you ask the electrician for one thing and find that they’ve instead attached it to a stud. Or you arrive on site to find that you need to call the electrician back to correct issues before you can start the AV installation, adding time to the project that wasn’t planned in the bid. Not to blame the electrician – it’s just a matter of differing priorities on site.

Some integrators are even giving up the inwall box business to the electricians altogether to avoid the spec problems that arise.

A well-designed AV storage solution with integrated surge protection, however, can alleviate many of these problems and provide some considerable advantages, including:

  • Reducing extent of coordination with a third party
  • Increase your actual sale
  • Reduce expensive time wasted on site

Electricians don’t add surge protection and power conditioning as a routine practice. With AV storage, integrators can sell the value of surge protection over the regular electrical outlet. Integrators simply have to ask the electrician to pull a whip to the right area, provide some slack in a service loop for any changes. They can also provide power conditioning to keep expensive AV equipment running longer. A service level agreement for cycling the power remotely adds to the bottom line.

Getting in on the project early also allows integrators to make sure everything is in the right spot for optimum performance. Some storage comes with removable plates for the integrator to send to the electricians, which alleviates some coordination issues as well.

Yes, working with electricians can sometimes be difficult, but new storage solutions and dedicated power designed for AV can help integrators avoid those pain points while adding new sales to the AV side of the equation.
