Harman Makes $365M Push into Automation with AMX Acquisition

The move marks a significant step into the video domain for Harman industries.

Harman International Industries announced today it has signed an agreement with The Duchossois Group, Inc. and its affiliates to acquire AMX LLC for $365 million.

AMX is a leading provider of enterprise control and automation systems and audio and video switching and distribution solutions.

Paliwal, Chairman, President and CEO of Harman. “AMX is the global technology leader in enterprise control and automation as well as audio and video switching and distribution. With the addition of AMX, Harman will be uniquely positioned to provide complete audio, video, lighting and automation solutions to our customers globally.”

AMX is headquartered in Richardson, Texas and has more than 600 employees worldwide. The company’s control and automation systems and switching and distribution solutions are used in a variety of markets and venues including corporate enterprise, hospitality, education, network operation and command centers, entertainment venues and broadcast facilities.

AMX will be integrated into Harman’s Professional Division, a professional audio and lighting business, featuring brands like AKG Acoustics, BSS Audio, Crown Amplifiers, dbx, JBL Professional, Soundcraft, Studer and Martin Lighting.
