Connectivity infrastructure is arguably the most essential technology AV integrators and consultants work with day in and day out. The right cables, extenders and related infrastructure often dictate whether a project succeeds seamlessly or creates ongoing headaches. With its recent launch into the U.S., Lindy — known globally for its complete, professional-grade AV/IT connectivity ecosystem — is shaking up the pro AV market in North America and beyond.

What Inspired Lindy to Push into the North America Market?

Although Lindy’s push into the U.S. is recent, the company is a longstanding force internationally. Rick Thompson, business development manager, Lindy USA, frames the drive into North America as a natural extension of Lindy’s decades-long international efforts.

“Lindy’s story goes back over 90 years, to its founding in 1932 in Germany by the Lindenberg family — which is where the Lindy name originates,” Thompson explains. “In the early days, the business focused on selling oil lamps, radios and other emerging electrical products, before evolving through the 1960s and ’70s into electronic kits and components.”

That legacy matters in a market in which technology evolves endlessly but the need for reliability is constant. Thompson notes, “A major turning point came in the 1980s, when Lindy moved into computer cables and connectivity during the rise of personal computing and home entertainment. That shift not only drove significant growth but also defined the company’s long-term direction as a specialist in connectivity.”

Lindy Expands Further

Over several decades, Lindy expanded further, stretching beyond simple cabling into infrastructure products tailored for professional installations.

“The portfolio expanded into IT infrastructure solutions, including switching and sharing technologies such as KVM switches and signal extenders — another key area of growth that strengthened our position in professional environments,” Thompson reflects.

He continues, “In the 1990s and beyond, we continued to evolve alongside the AV industry, building a comprehensive range of video connectivity solutions across all major standards — from VGA and DVI through to HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C.”

At the same time, Lindy introduced pro AV technologies such as matrix switchers, splitters, fiber extension solutions and digital signage products.

Foundational to Lindy’s success has been its partnership mentality, which is intertwined with an unwavering commitment to reliability and performance.

As Thompson puts it, “A big part of our success has been building long-term relationships with partners who rely on that consistency across multiple projects.” He adds, “It’s less about one-off flagship installations and more about being a dependable part of day-to-day AV and IT infrastructure.”

What Are the Strengths That Underpin Lindy and its North America Ambitions?

Lindy’s proven strengths underpin its North American ambitions. “For the U.S. market, [our] heritage matters,” Thompson declares. “We’re not entering as an unproven brand. We’re bringing decades of experience, a refined product portfolio and a track record of supporting real-world installations.”

Moreover, Thompson emphasizes that Lindy’s U.S. entry is quite strategic.

“Our move into the U.S. market is very much a deliberate step rather than a reactive one,” he says. Thompson describes many years spent building a strong foundation across Europe, the U.K. and international markets, refining both Lindy’s product portfolio and its partner approach. “The U.S. represents the largest and most mature AV market globally,” he notes, “so it was important for us to enter at the right time — with the right structure in place.”

A significant part of Lindy’s launch stateside has focused on building strong channel foundations and a scalable support structure for long-term growth.

“Working with experienced distribution and channel partners gives us access to established sales networks, strong market knowledge and the ability to scale effectively,” Thompson says. “That allows us to scale in a way that’s both efficient and credible, rather than trying to build everything from scratch.”

Lindy is mindfully phasing its U.S. rollout to ensure readiness.

“Initial efforts have focused on ensuring product availability, developing U.S.-specific marketing assets and enabling sales teams through training and support,” he describes. That formed the foundation of Lindy USA’s official market launch at ISE 2026, an announcement that generated excitement on the show floor, rising above the noise of the global AV industry’s largest gathering.

Building a Complete Lindy Connectivity Ecosystem

What does Lindy offer the North American market that’s truly differentiated and unique? Lindy brings a professional-grade AV/IT connectivity ecosystem designed for reliability.

As Thompson puts it, “Lindy’s approach is to provide a complete, professional-grade connectivity ecosystem that supports integrators across the entire signal chain — from simple cabling through to complex AV distribution, control and videowall systems.”

Elaborating further, he adds, “In practical terms, that spans everything from a comprehensive range of high-performance cables and adapters through to KVM systems, AV extenders, matrix switchers and videowall solutions — all designed to work together consistently.”

Thompson underlines the business advantage for integrators’ businesses, saying that, whether the project is a straightforward meeting room installation or a large-scale, multi-display environment, integrators can rely on a single, consistent supplier for the simplest connection as well as for the most complex system design.

Emphasizing the point further, he continues, “That consistency helps reduce one of the biggest challenges in AV integration — managing compatibility across multiple vendors. By offering a cohesive range, we remove much of that uncertainty and give partners confidence that systems will perform as expected.”

Are AV Environments Becoming More Dynamic and Distributed?

Partner peace of mind is especially crucial as we continue to see a shift across most sectors — for example, corporate environments, education, or large-scale commercial installations — toward more dynamic and distributed AV environments. Systems are becoming more complex, which means signals have to travel longer distances while maintaining high performance.

Thompson reflects on this, saying, “As distances increase, issues such as signal degradation, bandwidth limitations and compatibility become more critical — particularly when working with high-resolution video, USB and multi-interface systems.”

Thankfully for its partners, Lindy’s lineup directly addresses those market demands.

According to Thompson, “We offer a broad range of solutions designed to address these challenges — from active and hybrid fiber cables enabling high-performance point-to-point connections through to fiberoptic extension systems and long-distance extenders across HDMI, DisplayPort, USB and KVM.”

Moreover, Thompson points out, Lindy is a provider of certified solutions built on technologies such as HDBaseT, SDVoE and Dante, ensuring that Lindy can facilitate the transport of video, audio, USB, control and power in complex, multi-signal environments.

This means that integrators dealing with longer distances and scalable infrastructures now have the flexibility to design robust, future-ready systems.

Professional Development with The Lindy Academy

Apart from Lindy’s complete, professional-grade AV/IT connectivity ecosystem, a through line for the company has been its partner support and commitment to the channel. The next level of that is The Lindy Academy.

“The Lindy Academy is designed to support integrators, partners and the wider industry by providing practical, accessible training focused on real-world AV and IT connectivity,” Thompson says. “The platform offers on-demand training modules aligned with industry standards, focused on building practical, usable knowledge rather than theory.”

Notably, The Lindy Academy is completely free to access, with no barriers or hidden requirements. This further underscores that Lindy views integrator and partner success as inextricably tied to its own success.

“[The Lindy Academy] also supports ongoing professional development, including CTS-aligned content and the ability to earn CTS renewal units,” Thompson adds. This speaks to a key requirement for many pro AV professionals.

Which Real-World Use Cases Illustrate Lindy’s Value?

Lindy’s solutions have been proven successful in diverse, demanding environments. Asked for an example, Thompson points to the company’s work with Dagri Engineering, a specialist in medical AV integration for operating theaters across the Middle East, Asia and South Africa.

“Working together,” he recalls, “we delivered a combination of matrix switching, fiber-based extension and high-performance cabling solutions to support AV routing within and beyond the operating theater.”

Thompson also highlights success stories centered on modern workplace design.

He says, “Our collaboration with Neat focuses on modern workplace environments, where simplicity and flexibility are key. By combining Neat’s video collaboration technology with Lindy’s USB-C, HDMI and hybrid fiber connectivity solutions, integrators are able to deliver clean, high-performance meeting room installations with reduced complexity and reliable operation across a range of room sizes.”

Meanwhile, large-venue projects show off Lindy’s long-distance signal expertise.

“In the Foro Italico in Rome, a fiber-based HDMI extension solution was used to transmit a stable 4K signal over more than 250 meters, linking an external control room to dual LED displays within the arena,” Thompson recounts.

These success stories demonstrate Lindy’s focus on reliability, versatility and robust channel support — a value proposition that North American integrators can now access.

How is Lindy Reinforcing Its Value in the North America Market?
