InfoComm 2017 Sets All-Time Attendance Record

Published: June 16, 2017

InfoComm International set an all-time attendance record for its mid-summer extravaganza, with 44,077 people making their way to Orlando for InfoComm 2017, which featured three days of trade show exhibition by more than 1,000 exhibitors and new education and training.

This year’s show breaks the previous InfoComm attendance record of 39,105 set in 2015 in Orlando by 12.7 percent and represents a 13.5 percent increase over last year’s 38,833 attendees in Las Vegas, where InfoComm had set a record for exhibitors and trade show floor space.

InfoComm 2017 included the debut of TIDE [Technology. Innovation. Design. Experience.] initiative and Center Stage and more education, training and certification opportunities than ever before.

[related]InfoComm executive director and CEO David Labuskes told PSNI affiliates at their annual InfoComm breakfast that this year’s show saw “20 to 30 percent” more attendees in education than in previous years.

This year’s show broke the registration record early in the week, says Labuskes, and more than one-third of InfoComm 2017 attendees were at the show for the first time.

InfoComm 2017 attendance represents “significant growth” for the show, Labuskes told PSNI members, who were joined for the first time by representatives from 10 new Global Alliance affiliates.

That global reach has been a primary push for Labuskes since he took the helm at InfoComm in 2013. Membership among those outside North America has tripled “from a very low base” in that time, Labuskes says.

Integrated Systems Europe remains the pro AV industry standard for attendance with the 2017 edition attracting 73,413 people to Amsterdam for the four-day international show case that’s a partnership between InfoComm and CEDIA.

Some InfoComm attendees wondered if the show will follow ISE’s lead and add a fourth day to give people more time to see everything they want to see on the show floor or attend more training sessions.

On a CI InfoComm 2017 preview webinar, InfoComm’s Rachel Bradshaw said the show will expand to a fourth trade show day “when it makes sense.”
