InfoComm 2015 Must See: QSC Expands DSP Solutions

Published: June 9, 2015

QSC will unveil its latest addition to the Q-SYS Core DSP family, as well as the new TSC-7t Tabletop Touchscreen, at booth #909 of this year’s InfoComm show.

David Fuller, Sr. Director, Product Development, Install Sound at QSC, took the time to talk to CI about what the company has planned for integrators visiting its booth at InfoComm 2015, June 17-19 in Orlando.

If we learn about only one product innovation in your InfoComm 2015 booth, what should it be?

We are most excited about the Q-SYS Core 110f, which is the latest addition to the Q-SYS Core family. It is poised to provide the ideal digital signal processor (DSP) solution for small, single-room projects but can be integrated into systems all the way up to the largest enterprise-scale deployments. The QSC software-based DSP platform, Q-SYS, gives the systems integrator and end user a unified software design tool and feature set suitable for projects of any scale.

The Q-SYS Core 110f is a multipurpose software-based digital audio signal processor with a total of 8 balanced analog microphone/line level audio inputs and 8 balanced analog line level audio outputs. In addition to the fixed 8 x 8 analog audio I/O, the Core 110f features a software definable bank of 8 balanced analog audio I/O FlexChannels, a unique QSC innovation, where each channel can be independently configured during design or run time as either a microphone/line level input or line level output.

As such, the Core 110f offers class-leading 24 analog I/O density in one rack space plus additional specialized I/O such as VoIP, POTS, internal media playback/recording HDD and USB—all included in one chassis SKU.

The Q-SYS Core 110f also supports class-leading USB audio device port connections that enable the processor to appear in the host operating system simultaneously as both a USB audio and communications resource. It advertises multiple virtual USB device instances to the host operating system concurrently, over a single physical USB connection.

What if we have time to see one more thing?

The new TSC-7t Tabletop Touchscreen can be used on any Q-SYS networked audio solution, including the new Core 110f. The TSC-7t functions as an elegant telephone dialer and can additionally be used to control a myriad of third-party devices prevalent in boardrooms and meeting rooms—via the Core (no additional control processor box required).

Additionally, the TSC-7t meets a common BYOD (bring your own device) audio need. When meeting participants run UC or web conferencing applications on their own devices, they can easily connect the 2-way audio from that device to the Q-SYS system using the Bluetooth and or Micro USB On-The-Go (OTG) connections on the TSC-7t.

What’s one last impression you’d like us to take away from your InfoComm 2015 booth?

QSC Systems is committed to providing AV solutions, built for IT. We offer more than native network connections and compatibility with IT systems like LDAP, SNMP and SIP softphones. We provide AV channel partners the ability to design and integrate projects with our flexible, scalable, and standards-based solutions. In doing so, they gain an immediate advantage that comes from our IT-centric approach to product development.

It also means future-proof designs that easily scale to meet changing customer needs, reliable and easily managed installed systems, and experiences that exceed end user expectations.
