In this exclusive Commercial Integrator interview, we speak to Bryce Nordstrand of Access Networks ahead of the InfoComm 2025 show. During the interview, Nordstrand, who serves as vice president, managed services, with ADI | Snap One, focuses on both Wi-Fi 7 and the company‘s suite of network design services.
Access Networks Offers Primer on Wi-Fi 7
Early in the interview, Nordstrand offers a primer on Wi-Fi 7, as well as its impact. He describes it as “…more or less a total rewrite of the technology.” He characterizes Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 as upgrades. By contrast, he says, “Wi-Fi 7 actually impacts all three of the frequency bands, where, before, it was really just adding some features to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz.”
Perhaps the most impactful change, Nordstrand says, centers on Multi-Link Operation. As he explains it, “That allows these devices — handheld, desktops, computers, all kinds of different things — to communicate on multiple different frequency bands at the same time, therefore increasing bandwidth quite significantly.”
Later in the conversation, Nordstrand turns to Access Networks’ portfolio of offerings. He says, “We have two models of indoor access point: the A770 and the A670. And those are both available now, and we’ve had great response…great feedback on the performance and how they’re being utilized in projects.” Plus, multiple more SKUs are coming later this year and into next year. That will fill out both an indoor and an outdoor Wi-Fi portfolio.
During the back half of the conversation, Nordstrand really dives into Access Networks’ suite of network design services. “We’ve been doing this for almost two decades now, as far as design services are concerned,” Nordstrand reflects.
He continues, “We have a really refined process where we collect a bunch of data from our customer or partner regarding what their project entails and what the scope of it is. And then we start applying that to a network design.”
