The newly announced N7142 AV Presentation Switcher from AMX by Harman is now available. [related]
AMX by Harman ships the all-in-one presentation switcher directly and says that its latest product offers professional integrators a solution that delivers local matrix switching with low-latency networked AV distribution.
“Customer interest in the AMX N7142 has been extremely high, so it’s exciting to announce it’s availability,” says Paul Hand, product manager, video distribution, Harman Professional Solutions.
“The N7142 brings a range of exciting features, including 4K60 local and networked video, audio DSP with acoustic echo cancellation [AEC], a high wattage amplifier, and a variety of control options, making it a robust, yet cost-effective solution.”
Some of the specific features the N7142 Presentation Switcher provides include the ability to distribute 4K UHD content from the latest 4K 60Hz sources to a range of displays through its support of 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 [chroma subsampling] video, HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.
AMX Switcher Connectivity Options

- two available networked AV card slots for use with AMX’s encoder and decoder cards
Audio Connectivity Options:
The AMX switcher supports source HDMI audio, along with a pair of microphone inputs with phantom power, and six independent stereo inputs. The product also incorporates a built-in DSP with AEC and a 60-watt stereo amplifier with options for 4-ohm, 8-ohm, 70-volt and 100-volt operation.
The N7142 AV Presentation Switcher provides a web-based interface that helps integrators to easily configure the product.
For basic setups with nominal switching and volume adjustments, the presentation switcher includes front-panel controls.
Bundles and Use Cases:
AMX adds the AV presentation switcher is available in two versions: the NMX-PRS-N7142 and the NMX-PRS-N7142-23, which bundles an N2300 series encoder and N2300 series decoder.
The company adds that education environments, such as active learning and overflow classroom scenarios, are a perfect fit for the AV presentation switcher.
