Luxul, an innovator of simple-to-deploy professional grade IP networking solutions for use by custom installation professionals, has been busy making a name for itself in the industry.

To provide CI readers with a bit more information about what Luxul can offer custom installation professionals, Clark Roundy of Luxul spoke with CI about its products, installations, and what sets them apart from competitors.

What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line?

If you’re an existing Luxul dealer, thanks for your business and please be sure to let us know how we are doing. If you’re familiar with Luxul, but haven’t tried our products recently, take a closer look. We have a completely new line of products including a Wireless Controller, 802.11ac APs, Layer 3 PoE+ switches, and a full line of switch and router products designed for use in AV rack—with ports on the back and LEDs on the front.

What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time?

A great customer experience starts with a reliable network. We want to be your “go to” networking partner in creating that superior customer experience. New dealers are typically surprised at how easy the products are to set up, how well they perform and how much better their profit margins are by installing a Luxul network—not to mention our free training, lifetime technical support and other programs designed specifically to help our dealers succeed.

Tell us about one particularly interesting installation of your product.

The addition of our Layer 3 PoE+ switches has opened up some interesting HD Video distribution opportunities, particularly in restaurants, neighborhood sports bars, arenas, and other venues with multiple video displays. Luxul switches are now optimized for use with Just Add Power’s HD over IP video distribution systems. Together, we are providing dealers with the tools to build cost-effective, scalable, high performance video matrices supporting dozens or even hundreds of inputs and outputs.

Besides the usual, what really specific thing differentiates you from your competitors?

Luxul’s entire focus is on making IP networking as profitable and pain-free as possible for our dealers. This starts with the products themselves—purpose-built for the pro-installer, offering commercial grade performance, while still being simple to setup and install. Add to this our installer-focused services: design assistance, lifetime support and educational programs—all free to the installer.  Finally, we make our products easy to buy through local distributors, without eroding installer margins with online sales.

What’s the best sales tip/tactic you’ve come across?

Luxul’s approach has always been focused on dealer success. We know that if our dealers are successful, we will be successful.  The combination of excellent products, outstanding dealer-focused educational resources, and standing behind our products with a comprehensive service program has been a good recipe for Luxul growth.

What one technical tip can you offer about installations?

Never start any network installation without a clear understanding of customer expectations and use scenarios. What kinds of applications will be used? How many simultaneous users will be on the network? Will remote access be required? Are there physical site conditions that may present challenges? And, remember that Luxul offers free design assistance to dealers.

Where do dealers typically get tripped up on installs?

When it comes to IP networking, creating and configuring a correct IP addressing scheme can be a challenge. We always emphasize to our dealers the importance of learning IP addressing inside and out, while also offering webinars, onsite training and other educational resources on this and other important IP-related topics.
