Audio Video Lighting Innovations (AVLI) had its work cut out for him when 1 Hotel South Beach came to it with a tricky request. It wanted the audio systems for its rooftop pool and bar area to provide the impact and punch that any fun Miami nightlife venue ought to have, but to do so without disturbing neighbors, which include businesses and residences.

AVLI leveraged Community W Series loudspeakers in part for their ability to stand up to sun, wind and salt. The system includes 22 model W2-2W8 two-way loudspeakers and 12 W2-112 subwoofers.

“The rooftop area is completely open so we placed loudspeakers every six to eight feet with a focus on areas where people gather,” says AVLI’s James Reed.

“That allowed us to bump up the level to create an exciting atmosphere without disturbing the neighborhood.”

The system also includes 20 Lab.gruppen amplifiers power the system which is controlled by a Biamp Tesira Forte DSP. The Tesira also provides head-end services including user interfaces at the bar and cabana and inputs for DJs and live bands which eliminate the need for portable equipment.

Reed says the sound is very clear and consistent throughout the pool area with plenty of level and great musical quality. “We’ve had nothing but smiles from the 1 Hotel group,” he adds.
