Planar Expands Creative LED Portfolio
Planar announced the Tile Series, it’s new line of rigid and flexible LED modules for flat, curved and custom-shaped display arrays. The series adds new module sizes and configurations to the company’s creative LED portfolio.
Tile Series joins two other creative LED lines Planar introduced recently, the Mosaic Series and the Chameleon Series. These three lines give integrators more options for building displays outside standard rectangular formats. Custom shapes shouldn’t be a hurdle.
Tile Series Module Options
The Tile Series includes three module options, two rigid and one flexible:
- Tile: A rigid module with a 2:1 aspect ratio for flat configurations, measuring 320mm x 160mm x 15mm.
- Tile W: A rigid widescreen module with a 16:9 aspect ratio, measuring 320mm x 180mm x 15mm.
- Tile Flex: A flexible module with a 2:1 aspect ratio for concave, convex and continuous curved surfaces.
Integrators can combine these module options to build custom dimensions, shapes and configurations.
Pixel Pitches for Every Resolution
The Tile Series comes in five pixel pitches: 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm. This range lets you match pitch to viewing distance and resolution needs across projects. Precise viewing requires the right pitch.

Tile Flex modules support a minimum curve diameter of 1 meter, or 39.37 inches. The flexible modules work for concave, convex and continuous curved display surfaces, including column wraps and curved feature walls.

With flexible and widescreen-format rigid module options, Tile expands the range of projects where you can consider creative LED.
Streamlined Power and Data Handling
The Tile Series uses a proprietary Type-C interface to deliver both power and data between a compact control unit and the LED modules. Flexible cabling with locking connectors runs between components. This design simplifies cable routing and keeps connections secure inside custom structures.
The control unit can be mounted in multiple orientations. This gives you more placement options when space behind or inside a custom structure is limited.
Durable Touch Interactivity
Select Tile Series models are available with a fully encapsulated surface that supports touch interactivity. Encapsulation also adds durability to the display surface.
Planar’s LED Ecosystem
The Tile Series builds on roughly ten years of Planar’s work deploying flexible LED displays, including the CarbonLight CLI Flex Series. Planar says the Tile series alongside the Mosaic and Chameleon series are part of a broader creative LED lineup for nonstandard display designs.
