In an exclusive interview with Commercial Integrator, Vanco executive Brandon White discusses AV-over-IP evolution and key solutions. White, of course, serves as director of product development with Vanco, a company that offers a range of audio/video products and electronic accessories.
At the outset of the interview, White discusses Vanco and its entrance into the AV-over-IP category about six years ago. He is candid about AVoIP having a bit of a rocky start and its share of growing pains. “Part of it was the market trying to get into the networking side of it more,” he observes. “Some installers definitely, I think, had a hard time with it, either by choice or otherwise.” In some cases, it was a lack of background or education, or even just didn’t have the opportunity.
Vanco and Its AV-over-IP Strides
At this point, though, Vanco and White feel like AV-over-IP has much to be proud of. “They’ve come an absolute long way in terms of QC process, in terms of the development process,” he says. “And I think that’s why we’re seeing it really grow [and] be at the forefront of the AV industry as a whole.”
Later in the conversation, White discusses a key Vanco solution: the EVO-IP 2.0. “We took all the feedback that we had from our customers over the years, certainly, and what we’ve seen in the market, and that’s what we really added to our EVO-IP 2.0 design.” Getting more specific, he mentions that it’s Dante-ready, and thus easy to integrate with other Dante-ready products. Plus, it offers Dolby Down-mixing, which is a boon for both commercial and residential applications. White also gets into a range of other features and benefits.
Toward the end of the conversation, White explains the Vanco perspective as regards AV-over-IP and solutions broadly — namely, as he puts it, “creating that value for our customers, and their customers, as well.”
