Replacing a commercial gate operator often means more than swapping hardware. When the new unit doesn’t match the old mounting footprint, you’re pouring a new foundation before the job really starts. That adds labor and cost the customer didn’t plan for.

Nice, the Carlsbad, California-based Smart Living Solutions provider, has introduced the OSCO 725 to address that problem. The commercial slide gate operator supports gates up to 5,000 pounds and uses the same 30-inch post spacing as the products it replaces. It also adds battery backup, Bluetooth setup and Ethernet-based remote monitoring through the new SmartTouch 725 controller.

Key Things to Know

  • The OSCO 725 comes in four primary models that support gates weighing up to 1,500, 2,500 or 5,000 pounds.
  • The OSCO 725-25F moves gates up to 2,500 pounds at twice the speed of the standard model.
  • Its 30-inch post spacing and mounting profile match the operators it replaces, so installers can reuse existing posts.
  • A brushless DC motor drive and battery backup keep the gate running during power outages.
  • The SmartTouch 725 controller adds Bluetooth configuration, five programmable safety inputs and Ethernet remote monitoring.
  • The operator works with established Linear RF accessories.

What Is the Nice OSCO 725?

The OSCO 725 is a commercial slide gate operator built for medium- to large-scale properties that need controlled vehicle access. Target sites include trucking and distribution facilities, corporate campuses and secured storage yards.

It’s the next generation of Nice’s commercial slide gate portfolio. The OSCO 725 combines key capabilities from the legacy Linear and HySecurity platforms into one product line.

Which OSCO 725 Models Are Available?

Nice offers four primary models: the OSCO 725-15, OSCO 725-25, OSCO 725-50 and OSCO 725-25F. The first three support gates weighing up to 1,500, 2,500 and 5,000 pounds, respectively.

The 725-25F handles gates up to 2,500 pounds at twice the speed of the standard version. That matters at sites where vehicle throughput drives the spec, such as busy distribution yards.

Select models are also available in high-voltage configurations that support 460-volt and 575-volt three-phase power.

How Does the OSCO 725 Simplify Retrofits?

The OSCO 725 uses the same 30-inch post spacing and mounting profile as the products it replaces, so installers can reuse existing posts. You don’t have to rebuild the gate operator foundation.

That cuts the most labor-heavy part of many replacement jobs. An available accessory also enables retrofits from select competitive products.

How Does the Operator Handle Power Outages?

The OSCO 725 keeps opening and closing during a power outage through its brushless DC motor drive and battery backup. A manual gearbox release allows hand operation when needed.

Optional add-ons extend that coverage. A cabinet heater supports extremely cold environments, and a remote manual release gives fire departments access.

How Is the Enclosure Built for Harsh Sites?

The post-mounted enclosure can sit above ground level, which keeps it reachable in snow and better protected where standing water or flooding is a risk. It’s also tightly sealed.

That seal limits access by rodents, snakes, insects and other pests. Those intruders are a common cause of damaged internal components in outdoor equipment.

What Does the SmartTouch 725 Controller Do?

The SmartTouch 725 controller manages control, safety, connectivity and diagnostics for the OSCO 725. It offers five programmable safety inputs for devices such as photo sensors and vehicle detectors.

Native support for Nice vehicle detection technology lets you configure those devices directly through the controller. Native communication between operators also handles synchronized bi-parting gates, so both panels reach their open and closed positions together.

The controller can integrate with other Nice access products, such as barrier arms. It also works with ancillary devices, including traffic lights.

How Does Bluetooth Setup Help Installers?

Bluetooth connectivity gives installers smartphone access for setup, diagnostics and configuration. The app manages the controller’s programmable settings without working through an onboard menu.

The bigger time saver is configuration reuse. You can save a known configuration, reload it during service or copy settings from one gate to another. On sites with multiple access points, that shortens commissioning.

What Can Remote Monitoring Do Over Ethernet?

An integrated Ethernet connection lets authorized users monitor the operator, adjust settings and run firmware updates through an embedded web interface. The system can also send alerts when security conditions change, such as a gate failing to close.

Facility and security teams get visibility into a critical vehicle access point. They also learn when something needs attention before someone reports it.

Why Did Nice Develop the OSCO 725?

Nice developed the OSCO 725 to give installers and commercial customers a gate operator that’s tougher, easier to install and easier to track over time. John Allen, director of product management at Nice, ties the design directly to installer needs.

“OSCO 725 was designed around what installers and commercial customers need from a modern gate operator: rugged performance, straightforward installation and greater visibility into the system throughout its lifecycle,” Allen says. “By combining proven technologies from our established gate operator platforms with the advanced capabilities of the SmartTouch 725 controller, we’re giving installers a powerful, versatile solution that’s easier to deploy, configure and support.”

What Does the OSCO 725 Mean for Commercial Integrators?

The OSCO 725 gives integrators who handle access control a path to recurring service revenue, not just a one-time install. Remote visibility lets technicians diagnose many problems before dispatching a truck.

When a visit is needed, techs arrive knowing the likely issue. That cuts unnecessary truck rolls and opens the door to ongoing remote monitoring and maintenance contracts.

Compatibility with established Linear RF accessories also helps. Customers and installers already using that technology can keep it while moving to the newer operator and controls.
