Sean McChesney of Electrosonic Named Chief Revenue Officer

Published: 2023-11-27

Electrosonic just announced the appointment of Sean McChesney as chief revenue officer (CRO). The company is, of course, an award-winning international audiovisual and experiential technology company. McChesney actually began his career at Electrosonic some 10 years ago. As CRO, he will be responsible for developing and executing a global revenue strategy that will drive sustainable business growth. This, the company says, will further strengthen Electrosonic’s commitment to its clients and its partners. McChesney will report directly to the CEO.

As CRO, McChesney will play a pivotal role in shaping Electrosonic’s overall revenue generation. Moreover, he will optimize the company’s sales and marketing efforts. In addition, McChesney will be responsible for overseeing the global sales, marketing, technology innovation and partnerships teams broadly. He will work closely with the rest of the executive team to continue to grow the business internationally to support Electrosonic’s customers and partners. As CRO, McChesney will serve as a member of the Global Executive Leadership Team. In that capacity, he will join Ewan Smith (CEO), Michelle Byrne (chief people officer), Nico Åhlström (chief financial officer) and Steve Chambers (chief operating officer).

McChesney joined the company as a graduate apprentice in 2013 in Electrosonic’s START Program. Since then, he has held various key technical and business roles, the most recent of which was vice president of sales, North America.

McChesney Expresses Excitement About Electrosonic CRO Role

“I’m excited to further my responsibilities with a company that has such a rich history in the industry,” McChesney says. He continues, “I can’t wait to harness the passion and expertise of Electrosonic’s talented global teams as we continue to push the boundaries of the built environment through the use of technology and storytelling.”

“We’re thrilled to have Sean lead our global enterprise teams as chief revenue officer,” Smith, the CEO of Electrosonic, says. “Throughout his career at Electrosonic, Sean has flourished in each opportunity he’s received.” He continues, “[McChesney] has built valuable experience and relationships across the business, while demonstrating commitment to innovation and excellence along the way.” According to Smith, “Sean’s deep knowledge of experiential technology, [his] business acumen and [his] strong communication skills will help us advance Electrosonic’s strong competitive advantage.”

Chris Conte, Electrosonic’s executive consultant and global ambassador, says working with McChesney has been a privilege. “It was clear from the outset that he had the talent [and] intuition and a tremendous enthusiasm for experiential technology and the way it can help our clients and partners advance their projects,” he declares. Conte adds, “I’m delighted, but not surprised, that he will now be in a new leadership position to positively influence Electrosonic’s future direction on a global level.”

McChesney Continues His Career Progression

McChesney’s role as CRO is the latest in a continuing series of career progressions. Following graduation as master of entertainment technology at Carnegie Mellon, he joined Electrosonic in 2013 as a graduate apprentice. Electrosonic’s START program is a progressive, nine-month apprenticeship that gives new professionals hands-on experience working with experts in their field and contributing directly to live projects. Then, McChesney gained promotions through increasingly vital roles. These included sales engineer, sales consultant, director of business development, experiential technology solutions and, finally, vice president sales, North America. McChesney’s achievements also received independent recognition. Indeed, he was chosen as a Young AV Professional of the Year at the 2020 AVIXA Awards. Plus, he made it onto Commercial Integrator’s 40 Under 40 list in 2021.

Along the way, McChesney made contributions to many of Electrosonic’s most prestigious projects. These included One World Observatory, The Stream at Uber’s global headquarters, Idaho State Historical Society Museum, Whittier Library’s Children’s Interactive, Okta Experience Center and NHL’s Seattle Experience Center. Throughout his career, McChesney always sought to work closely with senior leaders in technology and business. Conte, the executive consultant and global ambassador, mentored him.
