Most facilities want IPMX. Few want to rebuild their network to get it. That gap between what clients ask for and what their infrastructure supports is where a lot of AV-over-IP (AvoIP) projects stall.

A newly available transceiver from PlexusAV, the professional AV division of Sencore, targets that problem directly. The P-AVN-6-S runs uncompressed or compressed video from the same box, over whatever network the building already has.

Key Things to Know

  • The P-AVN-6-S IPMX transceiver from PlexusAV, the professional AV division of Sencore, is now available through the company’s global reseller and distribution network.
  • One unit handles uncompressed video up to 4K60 over 25GbE and JPEG XS over standard 1GbE.
  • ST 2110 and IPMX operation don’t require additional software licenses.
  • The transceiver passed IPMX certification in August at a Geneva event hosted by AIMS, VSF and EBU, and it won the HETMA Gold Award for Best AVoIP Product.
  • PlexusAV plans to launch more new products at ISE 2027.

What Is the PlexusAV P-AVN-6-S?

The P-AVN-6-S is an IPMX product-certified transceiver that links traditional SDI infrastructure with IP-based workflows. It’s the flagship of PlexusAV’s AVoIP portfolio and completes that lineup.

The unit targets live production, broadcast and professional AV environments. In those spaces, signal integrity, timing precision and interoperability can’t be compromised.

What Video Formats and Network Speeds Does the P-AVN-6-S Support?

The P-AVN-6-S supports uncompressed video up to 4K60 over IPMX and SMPTE ST 2110-compliant networks, plus JPEG XS over standard 1GbE. One model can serve a high-performance production core and an everyday enterprise network.

For integrators, that means fewer SKUs to spec and stock. The same box works in the control room and down the hall on the corporate LAN.

What Connections Does the P-AVN-6-S Include?

The P-AVN-6-S includes native 12G-SDI input and output, HDMI loop out and dual SFP28 interfaces that support 10GbE and 25GbE. Those ports tie the unit into existing baseband gear and high-performance IP networks at the same time.

No additional software licenses are required for ST 2110 or IPMX operation.

How Does the P-AVN-6-S Handle Timing and Redundancy?

The P-AVN-6-S handles timing through integrated PTP-to-Genlock conversion, which syncs SDI outputs to IP-based timing. That removes a common friction point in hybrid SDI and IP systems.

The unit also supports SMPTE ST 2022-7 hitless redundancy across independent primary and secondary network paths. If one path drops, the signal keeps running on the other.

What Certifications and Awards Has the P-AVN-6-S Earned?

The P-AVN-6-S earned IPMX certification in August at the second IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event in Geneva. The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), the Video Services Forum (VSF) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) hosted the event.

This round expanded testing to cover security and compression. The transceiver also received the HETMA Gold Award for Best AVoIP Product.

What Audio and Control Features Does the P-AVN-6-S Offer?

The P-AVN-6-S offers Dante and AES67 audio transport for up to eight channels. It also supports NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for discovery and connection management.

An open REST API and web-based configuration simplify setup and third-party control. The unit also integrates with PlexusAV Visual Array for centralized management.

Why Does the P-AVN-6-S Matter for Integrators?

The P-AVN-6-S matters because it lets you deliver IPMX without forcing a network overhaul. Clients with 25GbE get uncompressed video, and clients on 1GbE still get IPMX through JPEG XS.

Cogels makes the same case, pointing to the overlap between broadcast and professional AV.

“The P-AVN-6-S is now available via our global reseller and distribution network,” says Steven Cogels, director of business development at PlexusAV. “Most facilities want IPMX without rebuilding their network to get it. The P-AVN-6-S runs uncompressed on 25GbE where that infrastructure exists, and JPEG XS on the 1GbE network that’s already in the building. It’s one product with nothing to unlock later, built for customers where broadcast and Pro AV increasingly overlap.”

Where Can You Buy the P-AVN-6-S?

You can buy the P-AVN-6-S through PlexusAV’s global reseller and distribution network. Availability is now worldwide.

What’s Next for PlexusAV?

PlexusAV plans to launch more new products at ISE 2027. The company’s current portfolio spans compressed and uncompressed AVoIP, hybrid SDI and IP infrastructure, audio transport and enterprise AV integration.

The lineup is built on open standards and cross-vendor interoperability. That matters when your projects mix manufacturers and you need gear that plays well together.
