Who Acquired Perfect Vision & Sound?
Joseph Chordas IV and his son, Joseph Chordas V, acquired Perfect Vision & Sound from founder Robert Serio. Chordas IV is the company’s new president and owner.
He now runs day-to-day operations. That includes client relationships, system design and project execution.
What Is Perfect Vision & Sound’s Background?
Perfect Vision & Sound is a custom AV business that Serio founded in 1992 after spotting early demand for high-end video and multichannel surround sound. He built the company on delivering the best audio and video experience possible, tailored to each client.
Over three decades, the firm has designed custom home theaters for hundreds of consumers and businesses. Its client list includes Martha Stewart and Bob Kaufman, co-founder of Bob’s Furniture.
What Services Does the Company Offer?
Perfect Vision & Sound serves both residential and commercial clients. On the residential side, it handles home theater design and installation, whole-home audio, TV and display installation, smart home integration, networking and infrastructure, outdoor AV, specialized lighting and motorized shades.
Its commercial work covers conference room systems, training and education, digital signage and remote collaboration. That commercial base gives the new owners a foundation to build on, not a market they’re entering cold.
What Experience Does Joseph Chordas IV Bring?
Chordas IV brings a 35-year professional career, including more than 25 years in professional AV and streaming technology. He’s worked for VBrick Systems, Optibase, Haivision, ZeeVee and Kramer.
His experience spans technology integration and customer-focused service delivery. He’s worked directly with distributors, professional AV integrators, system designers, consultants, manufacturers and end users.
That matters for the company’s commercial plans. An owner who has sat across the table from integrators and consultants knows how corporate and institutional projects get specified and sold.
Why Did Robert Serio Sell the Business?
Serio sold because he decided the timing was right and found a buyer who matched his priorities. Listen for what he valued most in a successor: service, not just interest in the business.
“When I decided the time was right to sell, I set out to find someone equally passionate about the business, and importantly, someone with a service-first track record and orientation,” Serio says. “Joe Chordas, and his son Joe, the fifth, are already transforming the backend of the business with the latest technology and are actively expanding our roster of products and services. It’s an exciting transition that will provide new solutions for our clients.”
Serio is staying on with the company to keep the handoff smooth.
What Are the New Owners’ Plans for Growth?
The new owners plan to expand in two directions: deeper into the smart home market and outward into corporate, education and government work. They’ll also add a wider range of motorized shades, specialized lighting and video security.
Chordas IV describes the move as a deliberate shift after his corporate career, built around family and local service.
“When I left corporate America, I decided to chart a new path in collaboration with my son, leveraging our entrepreneurial spirit and where I could use my experience and love for the audio-video industry to assist local consumers and businesses,” Chordas says. “Bob has built a strong business with happy clients and enormous goodwill. We are fully committed to evolving the professional audio and video business by expanding our capabilities in the smart home market. We’ll also expand our services with an even wider selection of motorized shades, specialized lighting and video security, as well as by expanding our footprint into the corporate, education and government markets.”
Will the Company’s Service Approach Change?
The company’s personalized service won’t change, according to the new owners. Chordas IV calls it the top priority of the transition.
“Most critically, we are fully focused on maintaining the personalized service Perfect Vision & Sound are known for and ensuring every project reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to quality, precision and integrity,” Chordas says.
Where Is Perfect Vision & Sound Moving?
Perfect Vision & Sound is moving from Canton into new offices with a demo facility at 195 Scott Swamp Road, Suite 110, in Farmington, Connecticut. The move keeps the company in the Farmington Valley.
A demo space gives the firm a place to show commercial and residential systems working, not just describe them on a proposal. The company can be reached at 860-677-0075 or [email protected].
