That AptoVision had lofty goals entering InfoComm 2016 is an understatement.
The maker of the BlueRiver NT+ chipset, which it proclaims is the world’s first and only solution to enable switching and long distant transport of 4K/60 video with high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, is “trying to displace HDBaseT,” said director of business development Gerry Wilkins on the InfoComm 2016 show floor.
Part of the HDMI 2.0a specification, HDR dramatically improves 4K image performance over all prior display formats, writes AptoVision in a press release:
In addition to supporting HDR, BlueRiver NT+ is also the world’s only single chipset solution that supports extension and switching of resolutions up to 4K/60/4:4:4. By leveraging off the shelf Ethernet switches, the chipset can simultaneously extend and switch video, audio, RS-232, IR, GbE and USB 2.0 signals on CAT-x and fiber with zero frame latency across existing IP networks.
AptoVision, added Wilkins, is “leading the movement to uncompressed AV over Ethernet.”
