ROE Visual, the Shenzhen, China-headquartered, provider of digital display technologies, is preparing for the annual NAB show in Las Vegas. Geared toward the broadcast and film audience, this year’s show includes engaging offerings for attendees. ROE will highlight a much-anticipated product launch and demonstrations of existing technology within its family of display products.

ROE Visual will exhibit in the central hall of the show, at booth #C4535. The centerpiece of this year’s booth is a Ruby 1.9 videowall illustrating the use of LED technology in broadcast settings. Photorealistic environments and set design will transport attendees into the studio, says the company.

ROE Visual Launches Obsidian

ROE Visual will be unveiling Obsidian, its newest professional-grade LED display solution for on-set virtual production (OSVP). Obsidian is specifically developed for the film market. Much like its name — Obsidian boasts superb black levels, making it an ideal addition to extended reality (XR) filming on set. The mask design increases the physical surface of the panel without altering output quality, says the company.

The panel’s reinforced frame design allows for the removal of LED modules at any time, facilitating the creation of access holes for additional equipment, such as lighting fixtures or props. The access point can be created up to 2 meters wide and 2 meters (6.5 ft) high or more.

Obsidian uses 50% less energy than a traditional LED panel at the same brightness (220-watt max / 110-watt average), reducing studio spend and increasing product life, says the company. In addition, the indoor panel has an IP63 rating for surface waterproofing, making it adaptable for on-set requirements.

The new, cinematic panel sets a new standard in virtual production technology, and has already garnered attention for its design, winning the iF Design Award 2024 for Break-Through Structure Design and recently the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024.

NAB Show attendees can stop by the booth for demonstrations of Obsidian paired with the CB5 MKII RGBW LED panel every day at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (there will be one 11 a.m. demo on the final day of the show). These 30-minute demos will showcase ROE Visual’s product capabilities, highlighting the increased color output of the RGBW panel and Obsidian’s in-camera performance.

In addition to its own booth, ROE Visual’s technology can be found at the following partner booths: The Studio-B&H and RED Digital Camera. Be on the lookout for information regarding the team’s speaking engagements via ROE’s social media accounts as the show draws closer.

ROE will also feature products such as its Ruby series, Graphite and the newly launched Topaz series at booth #C4535.
