Saville AV Combines AMX, Polycom & amBX in Business Hub Install

Published: 2014-05-25

The 3M Buckley Innovation Centre invested £500,000 in its AV to create a new business centre attached to the University of Huddersfield.

The Centre has strong links to the 3M Corporation which is a corporate group involved in sectors including electronics, telecommunications and health.

The facilities at the Centre are intended for use by all tenants and members of the 3M BIC Network, a group companies can join to receive access to the centre.

Saville Audio Visual provided all meeting rooms and conference spaces with touch screen monitors allowing navigation through presentations, plus five Barco Clickshare systems enabling participants to share content wirelessly from laptops and other mobile devices via HD screens.

Saville also provided a full video conferencing system from Polycom, installed in a bespoke veneered wall unit with a matching table built by Saville.

Dr Michael Wilson, technology director at the 3M BIC, says: “The clarity and height of the screens in the telepresence system gives the impression of everyone being together in the same room. It also allows simultaneous directional speech, which normal video conferencing usually can’t cope with.”

Also installed in this space was an 8 meter x 3 meter translucent lighting feature wall, designed to provide the correct blue back drop to the video conferencing facilities, offering a near TV studio quality-like experience. The added ability to create the correct ambience for differing meeting functions, such as cool white, warm white, presentation content reactive or themed as required is achieved by using the amBX lighting control system triggered by the AMX touch panel.

For larger events at the Centre, the Presentation Suite and Exhibition space offer full HD projection systems, with 7000 lumen Christie HD projectors and a three-metre wide screen. Two wall-mounted HD 42in repeater screens are also included.

The sixteen second floor offices that run along the roadside are equipped with a hidden RGB LED ribbon controlled by amBX, which offers a beacon of light running along the road, which can be any colour or deliver passages of moving light.

All in all a really top class project from the experienced team at Saville Audio Visual and a real contender for recognition at the up-coming Essential Install Trade Awards taking place at Essential Install Live!
