What Is the Island Pro Mini and Who Is It For?

The Island Pro Mini is a new mid-range router/firewall built for multi-gig, demanding home and small business environments. PerfTech, the San Antonio, Texas-based, provider of network technology, says it is a smaller sibling to the Island Pro that keeps the same core performance in a reduced footprint.

The design carries over the brand’s look and build quality. Its Polynesian-design front plate keeps the award-winning Island aesthetic, and the unit uses enterprise-grade components throughout. Integrators can set it on a desktop or mount it in a 1U rack, and an internal power supply keeps the presentation clean.

Connectivity sits at the rear, where four ports handle the load: two 2.5Gb and two 10Gb copper RJ-45 connections.

“The Pro Mini, a new mid-range router/firewall, brings everything resellers and customers love about the Island Pro, high-speed, rugged reliability, easy Smart Swap install, but wrapped up in a smaller footprint,” says Island CRO Tom Gallo.

What Technology Is Inside the Island Pro Mini?

Inside the Island Pro Mini is the same patented packet engine and firmware that powers the full-size Island Pro. The Island team originally developed the technology for carrier gateways and has refined it over the past 25 years.

That firmware sets the platform apart in day-to-day operation. Its highly modular architecture is error-resistant, self-healing and rarely needs rebooting, which matters to integrators who want fewer callbacks after an install.

Joe Whitaker, a CEDIA veteran and current EVP at Origin Acoustics, sums up his own Island Pro experience:”I don’t know what secret sauce you have in there, but it’s pretty freakin’ magical,” he says.

What Makes the Island Pro Mini’s Performance Claims Notable?

The Island Pro Mini’s performance claims stand out because PerfTech says it delivers real 10G throughput, not just 10G ports. That distinction speaks directly to a common gap between spec sheets and field results.

The company says the difference is a matter of actual delivered speed under load.

“Many competing routers come with 10G ports, but that doesn’t mean they deliver 10G speeds, not even close,” says President Lewis Donzis. “According to internal testing, the Pro Mini is the only router in its class that truly achieves 10G during busy Internet use, and that is with security filtering and activity monitoring enabled.”

The unit is designed for extreme loads from agentic AI, gaming, highest-resolution AV and other bandwidth-demanding applications. For integrators, that headroom points to a smoother experience for clients who push their networks hard.

What Are the Island Pro Mini’s Pricing, Availability and Where Can Integrators See It?

The Island Pro Mini is priced at $999 retail, supports up to 7,500 devices and is due to ship late fall 2026. PerfTech includes several tools at no added cost, a detail that shapes the total value for resellers and their clients.

Bundled features arrive subscription-free. The package covers the upcoming OceanView multi-Island oversight tool, security and customizable URL filtering and WireGuard VPN.

Integrators can get a first look at the Island Pro Mini at CEDIA Expo, running Sept. 2-4 in Denver.
