Commercial integrators may roll their eyes at this statement, but when it comes to trade shows, the commercial market normally doesn’t hold a candle to shows like CES. InfoComm 2017 and its more commercial market, however, had a much different vibe this year.
Regardless of category — be it audio, video or control — InfoComm 2017 was buzzing with similar levels of excitement that one would expect at CES or perhaps CEDIA.

Smoking hot technologies such as AV-over-IP, Ultra HD 4K HDR video, laser projection, and digital audio are driving unmatched levels of market innovation, and it’s this innovation that’s fueling record levels of market interest and InfoComm attendance.
Narrowing down the best products seen at InfoComm was more difficult for me than for previous years. Putting any serious thought into a list like this is an almost monumental task in itself.
This year’s top product choices were hard for a couple of reasons: It’s impossible to see every product in the hundreds of booths that line the InfoComm show floor. Attendance numbers broke records this year as well as last, and exhibitor numbers are also experiencing an uptick.

Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, technologies like AV-over-IP, laser projectors, and unified communications are maturing. The development of these technologies means that products are more technologically advanced, and likewise, easier to use.
The InfoComm show floor is simply massive, and as a result, it can be all too easy to assign the most weight to the largest, most visually-spectacular products. But as any integrator could tell you, sometimes, it’s the small boxes, lights, chips and control systems which, despite their unassuming appearance, have a critical role to play in a setup.
So, with all that said, here are 12 hot products seen at InfoComm 2017.
