Nureva, Extron and TU Delft Team Up on Audio System Integration

Published: 2022-01-25

Nureva Inc. announced an integration between its audio system and Extron scaling presentation switchers with integrated IPCP Pro control processors. The IT staff at TU Delft, a technical university in the Netherlands, requested to streamline operation of its Nureva audio systems through its Extron TouchLink Pro touchpanels. This then led to the inspiration of the integration.

Built by developers at Extron and Nureva the integration was made possible in part by the Nureva Developer Toolkit. The toolkit provides cloud-based APIs to enable system control integrations. The integration allows users to mute and unmute the audio and adjust volume, treble and bass from the Extron touchpanels.

Configuration of the Nureva, Extron IntegrationUsers can also enable or disable the Nureva Active Zone Control feature. They can also adjust the microphone pickup zone and set the active zone for full or partial coverage. This provides a reliable, convenient and integrated experience through a single user interface within the Extron Control system. The Nureva-certified control system driver supports all Nureva audio systems. It is also part of the robust portfolio of integrations available from the Extron website.

Nureva also implemented a new authentication method better suited to hardware communications as part of the development process. This has helped instructors at TU Delft to easily control the Nureva audio system in their classrooms through a familiar interface. TU Delft chose Nureva as it wanted audio systems that had simple installation, use and maintenance. Moreover, the creation of an integration that saves time and effort for teachers reinforced their decision.

The Resulting Success

Rainer Stiehl, Extron’s vice president of marketing, Europe, expresses his excitement on the integration. He then adds, “The custom TouchLink Pro touchpanel interface displays a broad variety of audio parameters, all intuitively displayed and easily controlled from anywhere on the network.”

Marco Buitenhuis, an AV/IT specialist at TU Delft, also underlines the success of the Nureva systems. According to Buitenhuis, it has provided a consistent experience for teachers. He also remarks, “The process was simple and any issues were quickly recognized and dealt with.”

“We created the Nureva Developer Toolkit to give our customers the power to customize their experience with Nureva audio in ways that simplify processes and tasks according to their specific needs,” recalls Nancy Knowlton, Nureva’s CEO.

Knowlton concludes by expressing happiness on supporting TU Delft and Extron in the integration. She adds, “We were very happy to…[simplify] everything about their audio conferencing experience.”

Nureva Inc. is a Canada-based innovator of advanced audio conferencing solutions while Extron is an Anaheim, Calif.-based creator of innovative solutions across all AV technologies.
