Avid, a developer and provider of media creation tools, announces the availability of a new version of Avid Pro Tools that is optimized for Apple’s High Sierra 10.13.2 operating system (OS).
The Burlington, Mass.-based technology company has also introduced new file support for post-production workflows to enable users to work more efficiently. [related]
“The latest version of Pro Tools for High Sierra is packed full of enhancements,” says Rob D’Amico, director of pro audio market solutions, Avid.
“Pro Tools’ Mac support underscores Avid’s commitment to giving the creative community the freedom to take full advantage of Apple’s most powerful Mac ever to deliver the most powerful, efficient and integrated DAW [digital audio workstation] for audio post production and music creation.”
Avid also points out that Pro Tools now enables more AAX plugins within a session than previous versions. This option the company says enables users to produce music with a greater number of virtual instruments, while using tools such as equalization (EQ), compression and effects in their sub mixes.
Moreover, users can also run up to 36 percent more plugins on an 8-core iMac Pro computer and up to 62 percent more on a 10-core model, compared to using a 2017 model 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display and a Core i7 processor.
In addition, Avid states that its Pro Tools for High Sierra package is also powered by its MediaCentral platform.
