Adding to the Clair Brothers One+ Series of 12-inch and 15-inch coaxial stage monitors, the company announces its new self-powered 1.5AM+ stage monitor.
The introduction of the 1.5AM+ self-powered stage monitor follows the launch of the company’s 1AM+ powered monitor, and Clair Brothers says the new 1.5AM+ provides another stage monitor choice for front of house (FOH) engineers and live touring musicians.
The 1.5AM+ incorporates factory-programmed DSP algorithms and options that provides users with crossover, equalization, limiters, and four factory presets.
Clair Brothers Expands Powersoft Module
Elaborating on the tradition established by its 12AM product, Clair Brothers comments the 1.5AM+ features two 12AM Emulation Mode preset options—32dB gain or 38dB gain—that replicate the 12AM’s frequency response voicing and low-frequency phase response to enable integrators to utilize the 1.5AM+ in systems that include the 12AM coaxial stage monitors. Similar to the 1AM+, the 1.5AM+ monitor includes an amplifier module made exclusively for Clair Brothers by Powersoft.
The amplification module allows integrators to power a passive 1.5AM with a slave output, notes Josh Sadd, vice president and chief engineer, Clair Brothers.
“Simply connect the 1.5AM+ by cable to a non-powered 1.5AM and power the pair,” explains Sadd.
“While this is a mono [not stereo] configuration, this is a very unique, value-minded feature.”
Clair Brother specifies the amp to deliver a total of 3,200 watts of power or 1,600 watts each.
The 1.5AM+ coaxial stage monitor’s design also offers integrators and FOH engineers a proprietary high-frequency, rotatable horn (40 degrees horizontal x 60 degrees vertical standard dispersion) made from Baltic birch.
Uniquely designed, the horn design includes sculpted wooden acoustic filters that are said to optimize the magnitude and phase response between the monitor’s coaxial components in the crossover region.
