Matrox Extio 3 First to Deliver KVM Over IP, 4K at 60Hz at Low Bitrate

Published: 2017-04-20

Matrox has announced its new Matrox Extio 3 KVM over IP extender, which it says is the world’s first KVM over IP product that supports 4K at 60Hz 4:4:4 video, keyboard, mouse, USB 2.0 and audio at low bit rates over standard Gigabit Ethernet.

“We know our customers are looking for a secure, reliable KVM experience,” comments Carolin Injoyan, business development manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. “Leveraging existing IP infrastructures, the Extio 3 allows any crucial systems to be placed and managed from secured remote locations, and controlled from a distance.”

Matrox says its product is capable of extending 4K at 60Hz 4:4:4 signals at five percent of the bandwidth of competitive extenders and features DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity, which includes resolution capabilities as high as 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz.

Engineered for fast and easy setup, and operational flexibility, the Extio 3 enables users to share information to drive fast decision making and intuitive collaboration meetings.

Compatible with buildings’ existing wiring infrastructures, Matrox says the extender provides connectivity options for standard copper and fiber optic, and can be configured as a point-to-point component or as a networked KVM extender.

“With the flexibility offered by an IP-enabled KVM, our customers will have the ability to seamlessly collaborate and work with more systems, moving information from an operator screen to a central video wall or mobile device,” emphasizes Injoyan. [This] creates more efficient work flows.”

Some of the applications for the solution include control rooms, dispatch centers and network operation centers in vertical markets such as healthcare, military, transportation and broadcast.

Matrox adds that integrators will get their first look at the Extio 3 at the Hannover Messe 2017 show during the week of April 24-28.
