CI Fantasy Football League: Week 13 Results and In-Depth Analysis

Published: 2018-12-04

The final week of the regular season in four of the five CI Fantasy Football groups was lucky number 13 for some members of this year’s collection of integrators, manufacturers, consultants and other AV industry friends, but some may spend the offseason experiencing triskaidekaphobia.

Group 3 teams have one more week to prove their worthiness of earning playoff positions, although we’re guessing Team Guhl wished the regular season ended this week like in the other four groups.

We don’t know how long it would have taken Windy City Wire to grab its first victory, though. Maybe next year, they’ll follow the Cleveland Browns’ example and fight for a playoff spot after a winless campaign.

Here are the rest of the results from the CI Fantasy Football world. Best of luck to all the playoff teams and better luck next year to those who missed the cut, including all everyone representing CI other than Shawn Tobin, who had to sweat out the final regular season weekend to make it on a technicality.

Then again, I’m only guaranteed a spot because I had enough foresight to make it an eight-team bracket.

Group 1 Commissioner: Ray Lyons Wins-Losses
Diversified 10-3
T1V 10-3
Waveguide 8-5
Savi Controls 8-5
Z-Wave 8-5
Vanco 7-6
Speco Technologies 6-7
Canon Projectors 6-7
My Team’s Better (CI) 6-7
DigiDaybook 4-9
Digital Projection 4-9
You Need Brand Definition 1-12

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: Each week I keep an eye out for the “pillow fight” victor…which happened to be me this week with a 92-79 victory over Z-Wave. 92 points would have lost to nine other teams this week; that’s where luck plays into CI Fantasy Football.

Unfortunately for Z-Wave, this loss eliminated them from playoffs (where 3 teams had to go to points for the tie-breaker). Sorry, Mitch! Those who did make the playoffs included Diversified, T1V, Waveguide and SAVI Controls. Congrats and good luck in the coming playoffs!

Group 2 Commissioner: Shawn Tobin Wins-Losses
Winning as a Service (AVI-SPL) 11-2
Team Mercil (SureCall) 10-3
Magic Skol Bus (Klipsch) 9-4
HDBaseT-Pain (AVI Systems) 8-5
Banner Clique (CI) 7-6
La Grange Park Perfect Pixels (NEC) 7-6
Team Shelby (Viewsonic) 7-6
WC BigTime (D-Tools) 6-7
TecNec Titans (TecNec) 5-8
Team Wicka (LG) 4-9
Run Like A Gurley 4-9
Ugh Can’t Win (Windy City Wire) 0-13

CI Commissioner Trash Talk: The story of this season was the West Division beating up on the East Division for most of the year. However, with the winner of the East still given a playoff spot, Banner Clique limped past La Grange Park Perfect Pixels on the Total Points tiebreaker.

The other three playoff spots all came from the West, going to Winning as a Service, Team Mercil, and Magic Skol Bus.

Group 3 Commissioner: Craig MacCormack Wins-Losses
Team Guhl (Jennifer Guhl-ANC) 11-2
Rolls Royce (Jim Caldwell-Maximus Control) 10-3
The Lukes O Hazzard (Luke Jordan-EAVI) 7-6
Mac Daddies (Craig MacCormack-CI) 7-6
A Case of the Mondays (Matt Camps-NETECH Corporation) 7-6
Team Sansivero (Gina Sansivero-AtlasIED) 6-7
Team Durham (Scott Durham-Yorktel) 5-8
Guns N Rosens (James Ballard-Orbis) 4-9
Team Means (Jimmy Means) 4-9
Team Donnelly (Ryan Donnelly-Third Coast Tech) 4-9

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: With a week to go before our 8-team playoff adventure begins, there’s still a lot to be decided in this group. Who will get that final home game in the quarterfinals? Will Team Guhl hold off Rolls Royce for the first overall spot? Which teams will be watching the fake playoffs from their couches? Come back next week to find out who’s in the Elite 8.

Group 4 Commissioner: Tom LeBlanc Wins-Losses
Skol Vikings (AVI Systems) 10 – 3
Can You Diggs It (Human Circuit) 9 – 4
Team Luisi (Diversified) 7 – 6
Team Gasparo (Wyrestorm) 7 – 6
Philly Special (Ovation) 7 – 6
Team Ackerman ( Rock-It Audio Video) 6 – 7
Team Pearson (CTG) 5 – 8
Team LeBlanc (Commercial Integrator 5 – 8
Ypsilanti Jesses (Midtown Video) 5 – 8
Team Wells (CCS Presentation) 4 – 9

CI Commisioner Trash Talk: In some circles they’re calling it the comeback story of the year. Team Gasparo, at one point left for dead at the bottom of the CI Fantasy Football League standings, continues its late-season run. With a whopping 172.3 to 117.5 win over Ypsilanti Jesses, Team Gasparo climbs over .500 and into position for a playoff run.

Meanwhile, Skol Vikings continued its season-long dominance with a decisive 123.5 win over Team Ackerman. Can You Diggs It?I is still hanging around in second place after edging out your truly in a 107 to 92.8 contest.

Group 5 Commissioner: Chelsea Cafiero Wins-Losses
Team Schutzer (Opt Online) 11-2
2 Gurleys One Cup 9-4
The Evil Empire (Rock Electric) 8-5
Nebraska Taco Corp (Schaefers TV) 7-6
Smiling Mallards (InFocus Tech) 7-6
Bitter Donkey’s (InfoCor) 6-7
South Central Mud Dogs (Electrosonic) 6-7
Mr. McGibblets (CI) 5-8
Team HiBoost (HiBoost) 4-9
Team Wynn (Thomas Communications) 2-11

CI Commissioner Trash Talk: The final week of the regular season saw some close matchups as teams jockeyed for playoff positioning. With 5 teams above .500, this should be a great postseason!

Thanks to everyone who’s followed the ups and downs of the 2018 CI Fantasy Football leagues. We hope you’ll enjoy the playoff recaps for the next month and possibly join in on the fun next fall if you weren’t part of it this year.
