Honestly, we usually have more to announce here on our monthly People and Places posts. That there were so few announcements this month is telling of the effect holidays have on business. But the few who did make announcements — like Whitlock, and Peerless-AV — shaped an AV industry primed for growth in 2018.
First is video collaboration integrator (and third-largest firm) Whitlock, announcing new roles for two of its executives: Ewan Smith, eastern regional VP is promoted to National VP and John Bailey, VP of technology, was elected president of the Global Presence Alliance for 2018.
“Ewan will provide an overarching role, bringing his successful customer-focused business strategies from his previous position to all of Whitlock nationwide,” explains Doug Hall, CEO.
Meanwhile, John will provide leadership and oversight of the organization’s Board of Directors as well as the GPA’s Foundation and Corporation, and will work closely to coordinate global strategies and planning with the GPA Executive Director.
The company says these moves strategically align with Whitlock’s expansion strategy, as VP Julian Phillips put it: “to acquire AVI-SPL … one customer at a time” (through measuring customer relationships and investing in the right ones).
Peerless-AV Exec Appointed Higher Rank at Digital Signage Federation
Peerless-AV announces Brian McClimans, who currently stands as VP of sales for North America and APAC, as the new treasurer of the executive board of the Digital Signage Federation. [related]
For those who aren’t aware, the Digital Signage Federation is the independent not-for-profit trade organization serving the digital signage industry.
Since 2013, McClimans has served on the Board of Directors for the Digital Signage Federation and currently heads up the Outreach and Advocacy Committee.
In his new position, McClimans will serve as Treasurer, and will also continue with his other leadership positions as well.
“Brian is a highly accomplished veteran of the global AV industry, and can often be found headlining speaking engagements and collaborative presentations at industry events,” said Nick Belcore, Executive Vice President of Peerless-AV.
