Diversified Follows Technical Innovation Deal with The Systems Group Acquisition

Published: 2016-03-04

Diversified has acquired Hoboken, N.J.-based The Systems Group, a $30 million company that enhances Diversified’s broadcast capabilities with “an internationally recognized reputation for consulting, design, and integration around broadcast-LAN architecture and file based workflows,” according to the joint announcement.

The announcement comes only a few weeks after an industry-shaking deal that saw $215 million Diversified add $180 million Technical Innovation to the fold in an acquisition that gives the company geographic reach into the southeastern U.S. and beyond and helps to meet ever-increasing global customer needs.

After the acquisition, The System Group’s “space planning, technical consulting, and engineering expertise along with a talented and experienced staff of professionals will continue to serve their customers and contribute to Diversified’s portfolio of services,” according to the press release. “The expanded company will add to their deep knowledge in broadcast centric solutions around the globe.”

“Over the last two decades, we have developed strategic relationships consulting and designing facilities for the top media providers in the world,” said Christopher Mehos, principal at The Systems Group, in the joint announcement. “Joining the Diversified team allows us to focus our engineering expertise and offer a wider range of technical services to our valued clients.

Mehos and Griffin will join Diversified executive management as executive vice presidents to integrate The Systems Group team members into Diversified’s operations. Both “will play a key role in the growth strategy and execution of future technology platforms,” the announcement says.

Diversified chairman and CEO Fred D’Alessandro has gotten to know The Systems Group team over the years through partnerships and competing on jobs.

“I have always respected The Systems Group organization, engineering process and client-focused business, so, after NAB last year, we started discussions how we could formalize our relationship,” said D’Alessandro in the joint press release, referring to the National Association of Broadcasters annual event in Las Vegas in April.

“This acquisition enables Diversified to build on our broadcast services by leveraging the knowledge and experience of years in business focused on broadcast solutions. TSG’s thoughtful design, attention to detail and customer loyalty will immediately contribute to our collective client base with the resources to build focused broadcast solutions, of any complexity and scale, across the globe,” said D’Alessandro in the announcement.
