Published: 2017-10-05

The Norway-based video conference service provider Videxio now utilizes the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform to support its new video conferencing services.

Videxio says the service will allow users of dedicated video conferencing services to join Skype meetings, and it will ensure seamless cross-platform communications in a Skype for Business environment.

“The volume of Skype for Business users connecting with third-party video systems, browsers and voice participants on the Videxio service has increased by a factor of 10 over the last two years,” says Tom-Erik Lia, CEO, Videxio.

“We see this significant growth as a clear validation of the importance of breaking down interoperability barriers. Our new enhanced offering will allow customers to effectively leverage their existing investments and extend the lifetime of their chosen solutions.”

Videxio points out that through its Microsoft Azure Cloud-based services platform video conferencing users will feel the same meeting and call experiences they are used to previously.

The company explains that a Skype user will be able to host a Skype meeting and video conferencing system users will be able to join video calls. Collaboration can also be enabled directly from point-to-point from one technology to another without having to schedule a meeting. This feature Videxio emphasizes is consistent regardless of the technology, and it eliminates the need for users to learn new services.

Videxio adds that it has worked closely with its partner Pexip gateway to ensure reliability as a VTC Gateway through the Microsoft Azure cloud service.

“The combination of the Pexip gateway, which is Certified for Skype for Business Server, deployed in Azure, and Videxio’s calling platform is a winning combination,” notes Asmund O. Fodstad, CEO, Pexip.

“Together, the solution makes it easy to integrate and consume  the previously incompatible technologies. We are excited about this becoming available in the market in the near future.”
