We all want the best wi-fi coverage whether we’ve got our feet up in the living room or hanging out by the pool or generally enjoying the outdoors. Luxul recently announced products that they say will address those issues.
Luxul recently announced a dual-band AC1200 outdoor wireless access point that’s compatible with the company’s XWC-1000 wireless controller. The IP-65-rated XAP-1440 “employs multi-stream 802.11ac technology to deliver high data rates up to 1200 Mbps,” according to the Luxul press release. For smaller networks, Luxul also introduced the XAP-810, an access point that also features strong indoor coverage.
“When deployed in networks with our wireless controller, the XAP-1440 allows integrators to easily extend the seamless Wi-Fi experience beyond the home or facility,” said Jeffery Curtis, general manager and VP at Luxul, in the company press release. “When costs are more of a factor, our XAP-810 provides advanced technology at a lower price point, making it a great addition to smaller residential or commercial networks.” [related]
Both the XAP-1440 and XAP-810 can be easily set up on a network with Luxul’s XWC-1000 wireless controller, taking advantage of the controller’s Roam Assist feature to provide a continued, seamless roaming experience for users. A few years ago, product editor Bob Archer did a hands-on review of Luxul’s XAP-1500 wireless access point that was aimed both at the residential and commercial markets, which he described as easy to install and capable of handling 20 or so connected devices in his home.
Among the options incorporated into the XAP-1500 WAP were the ability to run concurrent dual bands of wireless on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrums, and a total power output of 1,000mW for increased coverage.
“With its dual-band capabilities custom installers also have the ability to better manage network traffic and minimize the threat of buffering during streaming events,” Archer wrote in his review.
