Inneos – Real4K HDMI 2.0 Optical Adapter & Cable
Integrators who need to make long cable runs for sending HD and Ultra HD video will appreciate this slick solution for sending signals up to 1,000 meters for typical environments. The DPL Labs-certified kit includes the transmitter and receiver, USB jumper and various lengths of fiber depending on what’s needed, with a 1-meter reference cable so integrators can hook up and test the connectivity before running a full length of multimode fiber between the transmitter/receiver.
The endpoint devices include LED indicators so you know if the signal is in waiting (red), delivering HDCP 1.4 (green) or HDCP 2.2 (blue) of HDMI 2.0, for which it routes the spec’s full 18Gbps. Not only that, but, notes Martin Smith, director of business development for Inneos, the product is field updatable for firmware and uses lasers from the company’s Zephyr Photonics side that has a laser foundry that can deliver overhead for HDMI 2.1’s increased bandwidth and beyond like 8K.
“We can’t wait for HDMI 2.1,” Smith says. “Bandwidth is free for us to make these as fast as we want to.” Upgrading to 8K will merely take a swapping of the end points.
