7 Signs the Future of Digital Retail is Here

Toshiba’s Virtual Changing Mirror
Perhaps the most talked-about experience of DSE 2015 was Toshiba’s Virtual Changing Mirror (or Virtual Dressing Room). Stand in front of the screen, and the program will choose an outfit and digitally dress you. Raise your right hand to change the outfit and scroll through a few before you find one you like.
Through a gesture-controlled interface, the virtual clothing in the “mirror” moves as the subject moves, removing the guesswork of trying on clothes, at least for a first glance.
This kind of in-store experience changes the scope of both retail and digital signage. No longer is signage simply a screen customers can easily walk by. Instead, it’s becoming more captivating, engaging and inspiring through interactivity.
