New Aurora VLX Series of 4K AV-over-IP Transceivers Debuted at InfoComm

Published: 2017-06-23

One of many products Aurora introduced at InfoComm 2017 last week, the new VLX Series of 1 Gbps 4K AV-over-IP signal transceivers tackle issues with reliability, scalability, inventory and more, according to the company‘s press release.

The VLX Series features three iterations: two wall plates (VLX-TCW2V-C, VLX-TCW2H-C) and a box version (VLX-TC1-C). The devices are not only 4K capable at 4:4:4, but also qualify as low compression 8:1 with low latency 25ms. Aurora says the products create a “visually lossless” image usable for digital signage, conference rooms, classrooms, and houses of worship.

The series of products also features a videowall mode of up to 8×8 and image rotation for portrait videowalls. Each unit has a Dante-compatible option and preview capability, aimed at allowing images of what is being encoded or decoded to be forwarded to a web page or application.

VLX Series products are controlled by Aurora’s IPBaseT technology, which combines a variety of 4K IP features under one unified protocol. CEO of Aurora Paul Harris says that visually lossless video with low latency, videowall capabilities, image rotation, digital audio, USB 2.0, and more are achieved on the Series because of IPBaseT.

“VLX Series breaks the limitation of point-to-point topology within a room, and now allows cost-effective room-to-room collaboration,” Harris says.

More from the Aurora press release:

Utilizing the bandwidth of a standard 1Gbps copper, IPBaseT supports large scalable audio/video matrixing, and it does so while replacing multiple technologies and products with a “single-box” distributed platform. The VLX Series has additional advanced capabilities, such as remote preview via web page for routing by content and channel mapping, allowing the selection of encoders from the decoder unit with an IR remote to simplify source selection.
