Heading into the 2019 edition of the Ford AV annual Memorial Golf Classic at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas, on Oct. 2, the event hosted by CI’s 2018 Integrator of the Year has raised more than $300,000 for cancer research to improve early detection methods and treatments of the disease.
The annual Ford AV Memorial Golf Classic includes Ford employees, vendors, customers and friends. The event begins with a four-man scramble and ends with a banquet where attendees learn about research advancements by a speaker from the OU Stephenson Cancer Center.
Why Ford AV Continues Memorial Golf Classic
Following the advent of the Memorial Golf Classic in Schultz’s honor, Ed Knoll, Long Tran and many other Ford family members died from cancer, which has “embolden[ed] its purpose and perpetuating the event,” according to the Ford AV announcement of the 2019 event.
Ford has set a corporate goal to raise awareness and gather funds in support of cancer research by hosting the Memorial Golf Classic every year.
“The infusion of regular funds has helped avoid the termination or interruption of promising research projects in an effort to find a cure,” according to the Ford AV announcement. “Thanks to donations, these projects will continue and make early detection of cancer and reliable treatment a reality.”
Ford AV is still looking to fill foursomes for the 2019 Memorial Golf Classic, but knows some duffers won’t be able to break away from the office for a day on the links and still want to help to raise money for a worthy cause that’s likely affected them in some way.
