PerfTech Unveils Enterprise-Grade Island Router

Published: 2023-05-09

PerfTech, Inc., a manufacturer of specialty networking devices, has introduced its new enterprise-grade Island Router.

The company’s new networking solution provides small businesses and homeowners with enterprise-grade levels of speed, and the wired router works with existing Wi-Fi mesh systems that are placed in AP or bridge mode. PerfTech explains the Island Router offers the ability to automate a range of facilities to provide conveniences that often require configuration that includes stateful firewall, interfaces and VLANs, device discovery, security filtering and DoH.

PerfTech notes the router also provides a device-centric architecture that enables the ability to assign names, icons and colors to devices, users and group. The Island Router’s companion app provides information that includes a network overview, as well as historical information, and PerfTech notes users’ most active entities appear at the top of lists and graphs. Integrators through the app can also place advanced settings under “Geek Mode” to keep daily functions uncluttered.

Elaborating on the enterprise capabilities of the Island Router, the company emphasizes the unit employs a state-of-the-art processor and memory, and to maintain consistently high network speeds even while continuously filtering for security and supporting VPN sessions, the router’s proprietary routing software provides packet handling at over 2 million packets/second. Additionally, the router supports as many as 5,000 devices to allow integrators the ability to expand their clients’ networks.

In addition, PerfTech says the router operates locally, omitting the need to transmit or store data in the cloud.
