Coltrane Systems has won the 2024 Commercial Integration Award Winner for Best Small Office Project!

The Coltrane team helped in designing and installing an AV system for the boutique headquarters for Elasticity. The systems include a conference room with dual PTZ cameras and a TV concealment system with integrated whiteboards, two unique audio solutions installed in a “pipe” ceiling and above a “Slinky” art installation, along with a projection-mapping solution utilizing a raised profile of the Elasticity logo.

A Strong Partnership

Per the company, Coltrane Systems has built its business on partnerships with like-minded companies in the design, architecture and construction industries. These partnerships have borne the fruit of amazing workspaces for numerous different organizations.

One of the first partnerships featured a former neighbor and premier design and architectural firm, Nehring Design. The Nehring team introduced Coltrane Systems to their customer Elasticity, who asked the Coltrane team to maintain Nehring’s design elements while providing a unique technology experience that included custom designed speakers and a projection-mapping feature wall.

Installation Features

  • Projection Mapping: A custom raised logo was installed by Engraphix which the size and position was coordinated specifically to allow for the largest sized logo while using a single projector for throwing an image across the surface. The Elasticity team also generates the content and loads to a BrightSign player for simple and quick content playback.
  • Open Office: Features a custom designed “pipe” ceiling that encapsulates globe style light fixtures. To match the fixture design, Coltrane worked with Leon Speakers to develop a spherical speaker of almost the same size as the light fixture, and was chrome dipped as to reflect the surrounding colors, rather than be its own color. The speakers can be used for paging and sound masking, and provide high-quality music for events and parties.
  • Lounge: A “slinky” art installation including over 1000 slinkys suspended from the ceiling above the lounge area. Elasticity demanded a high-performance audio system that would sound amazing at low volumes but would rock the house when needed. Coltrane worked with Leon to develop a custom two-way speaker suspended above the slinky structure, and had a low profile, as opposed to the large depth of a typical pendant speaker. The audio system also included a duo of 10-inch subwoofers built and suspended in a similar fashion.
  • Conference Room: The Elasticity team collaborates in many different ways, including whiteboards. To enhance the collaboration ability outside of the physical confines of the office, the team strategically placed a PTZ camera to pick up the whiteboard surface, which is on panels that cover the conference display and main room-facing camera.
  • Event Space: The adjacent event space includes an audio system by Leon speakers driven by a Q-SYS control and power system that includes a display inset in a seating element.

Positive Client Feedback

The interaction between Coltrane and the Nehring design team contributed to the success of the project, says the company. Here, the teams worked hand in hand on numerous details to confirm design intent, style and color.

Elasticity also expressed positive feedback for the Coltrane Systems team, especially the installation crew who had to coordinate with multiple different trades, often in confined and intricate spaces to successfully install the hardware. The space is a hub for collaboration for Elasticity and a showcase for their customers.
