SNA Displays retrofitted an LED corner-wrap outside District Hall in Boston with upgraded LED video technology. Orange Barrel Media (OBM), the out-of-home media company, owns and operates the newly upgraded digital-out-of-home (DOOH) platform. District Hall was created as part of a public-private collaboration located in the city’s Innovation District.

Conceived as a space for innovators and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and host events, the space has become a multi-purpose community center. SNA Displays’ EMPIRE Exterior LED video display is on the north side of the property facing Northern Avenue on one of the architectural pillars that gives the site its distinctive look.

“We once again selected SNA Displays as the LED provider for this landmark sign at District Hall, because they are a trusted vendor in our industry,” says Andrew Yee, senior director of construction at OBM. “As we continue to expand our presence in the area, we look forward to elevating digital out-of-home media and enhancing the public experience.”

The corner-wrap’s resolution and image clarity were improved, as the display’s pixel pitch went from 12 mm to 10 mm. Additionally, the display system is now both front- and rear-serviceable to streamline maintenance. The total display surface is 22-feet 10-inches high and 25-feet 2-inchces wide (696 x 768 pixels).

“After a long relationship, we were very proud to be working with Orange Barrel Media again on this upgrade,” says Jason Helton, executive vice president at SNA Displays. “We try to approach projects from a partnership perspective rather than a sales perspective, so it’s truly gratifying to have earned such trust that we’re asked us to come back again after so many years. We look forward to supporting the project for the next decade-plus.”

In 2014, SNA Displays provided the original LED video technology at District Hall. I.D. Sign Group was tasked with removing the old display and installing the new one.
