The era of integrator acquisitions continued in what’s typically a quiet time for deals and major news, with AVI Systems announcing the acquisition of Dascom Systems Group.[related]
Dascom Systems Group is a full-service integrator of IPTV services, including IP networking, video, applications and integration. Under terms of the acquisition, AVI Systems will operate the company as Dascom Systems Group from St. Paul, Minn., location will retain all employees, according to a joint announcement from the two companies.
“We have been interested in Dascom for many years,” said AVI systems CEO Jeff Stoebner in the joint press release. “They are experts in delivering video over IP that allows network providers all over North America to deliver TV services over those IP networks. AVI will invest in this great company and provide scale for the business to grow with the expanding market.”
The managing principals of Dascom Systems Group will be joining AVI Systems’ leadership team as part of the acquisition. The transaction is expected to close in the fall, according to the announcement.
“We are excited to join the AVI Systems team and to give our staff the future opportunities found in an employee owned company,” said Dascom CEO Dan Takkunen. “We also see great benefits in combining AVI’s audiovisual depth and resources with our IPTV knowledge and experience.”
AVI Systems launched an employee stock ownership plan in 2009, meaning the company is owned by its employees. Among prominent AV systems integration companies, only Unified AV Systems has joined AVI Systems in going the ESOP route.
This year has continued to be another hectic one for mergers and acquisitions, including Mechdyne adding ABS Associates, PSA Security acquiring USAV Group and CI Edge, Legrand acquiring Milestone AV and its many brands and CI 2016 Integrator of the Year Diversified bringing in CompView to go with its 2016 acquisition of Technical Innovation.
