Sustainability in AV (SAVe), a U.S.-based organization focused on mobilizing the audiovisual industry to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), announced that Crestron has achieved SAVe certification. With this, the company underscores its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Crestron achieved this milestone following its participation in the SAVe Certification Program on July 18, 2024, at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
Per a statement, the event brought together over 30 Crestron employees from multiple departments, alongside five SAVe representatives and a guest speaker from Columbia’s Climate School. The day’s agenda included educational sessions on climate change, e-waste management, plastic pollution, and recycling. Later, Crestron employees attended a workshop where they collaborated to develop strategies for aligning the company’s operations with the SDGs.
“We are thrilled that Crestron is the first manufacturer in the AV industry to become SAVe Certified,” says Christina De Bono, founder and president of SAVe. “It’s a demonstration of its commitment to align with the Sustainable Development Goals and become a sustainability leader in our industry.”
Breaking Barriers Through Cross-Departmental Collaboration
The SAVe Certification program highlighted the transformative impact of engaging representatives from several departments. Here, Crestron employees engaged in a rich exchange of ideas, leading to innovative and forward-thinking initiatives, particularly in Product Design, a focal point of discussion. This collaborative spirit thus demonstrated the power of a unified approach to tackling sustainability challenges and created a shared sense of purpose.
Sustainability Workshop Series
Inspired by the event, Crestron has also taken decisive action to integrate sustainability into its core strategy. The company has thus launched a series of monthly workshops, ensuring that all three pillars of sustainable development — environmental, social, and economic — are deeply embedded in its practices. These workshops focus on:
- Facilities Management
- Social Sustainability
- Design for Sustainability
- Supply Chain and Manufacturing
According to SAVe, the efforts by Crestron exemplify how organizations can drive meaningful change by implementing comprehensive and continuous sustainability programs.
