Exterity Rebrands As VITEC, Releases New Product

Published: February 9, 2022

Exterity announced it is now officially VITEC, marking a key milestone in the successful integration of both companies following Exterity’s acquisition in April 2021. VITEC is a France-based provider of IPTV, video streaming and digital signage solutions. Per the company, these solutions help organizations harness video to engage, empower and evolve.

The newly formed organization will continue to deliver a wide range of solutions across its markets. It will also leverage the expertise of the combined teams to best serve customers and partners around the globe. The move has been further signified by new branding. Here, the distinctive Exterity orange was incorporated into the VITEC logo. VITEC says this gives a fresh new look to accompany the change.

A Strategic Alliance in the Works

“Since the acquisition, a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes,” says Colin Farquhar, senior vice president of sales at VITEC and former Exterity CEO. Farquhar adds that this included integrating business processes, gaining deeper understanding of the combined product range and bringing the teams together.

He continues, “We have been focused on coming together as ‘one VITEC’, exploring product integrations and shared technologies to best serve our customers.” Farquhar then expresses his excitement, stating he looks forward to an exciting future.

The combined company now has 375 employees across 16 countries. Work is now ongoing toward maintenance and expansion of the investment in Exterity staff and locations. VITEC has acquired the previously leased Exterity HQ building in Dalgety Bay, Fife, Scotland. Here, the company looks to further expanding operations in 2022.

Furthermore, the team based in Dubai is moving to newly purchased premises in the Indigo Icon Tower in the DMCC Free Zone. VITEC also anticipates expanding the team in the Middle East region, which it sees as a key growth market.

Launch of New Jointly Developed Product

Additionally, in early 2022, VITEC will launch its first jointly developed product, a next generation transcoder. VITEC hopes to bring the best of Exterity and VITEC transcoder technology into the new VITEC Prism transcoder product. Per a statement, Prism is a high-performance IP transcoder. It thus enables conversion of IP video content into the right format to suit a wide range of devices and applications.

“When we acquired Exterity, our intention was to accelerate growth and strengthen our leadership position as IPTV, video streaming and digital signage provider for corporate, government, military, venues, hospitality, and broadcast customers,” says Philippe Wetzel, CEO, VITEC.

Wetzel also underscores how the two companies’ technology and customer synergies will help extend the reach. According to him, this includes new geographies, market verticals as well as partners. He notes, “We have enjoyed the collaborative process of finding out more and learning from each other over recent months [and] it is clear that the strategic acquisition will be hugely beneficial. I’m delighted that we are now all one VITEC, working together to achieve our goals.”

The newly launched VITEC website will also cater to both VITEC customers and legacy Exterity customers and channel partners.
