If you felt like the halls in the Orange County Convention Center were more crowded than ever for InfoComm 2019, you’re absolutely right.

AVIXA announced on Friday night that this year’s edition set an all-time attendance record with 44,129, slightly higher than the previous record of 44,077 registered attendees two years ago.

This year’s registered attendees included more than 40 percent of people under age 40 and customers representing higher education, hospitality, retail and other vertical markets. They saw more than 950 exhibitors show off the newest innovations in AV and IT.

“It’s been a truly remarkable week,” said AVIXA senior VP of exhibitions Rochelle Richardson in the association’s announcement about two hours after InfoComm 2019 closed. “The feedback from exhibitors has been outstanding. The sheer number of people absorbing our content – everything from the packed room for Tuesday’s Emerging Trends Day to the crowds at Center Stage – is some of the best validation we can receive of InfoComm’s value to the industry.”

Inside the InfoComm 2019 Attendance Numbers

A record 312 InfoComm 2019 attendees tested to become a Certified Technology Specialists while in Orlando this week, a 23 percent increase over the previous InfoComm record, and 255 passed their exams, a jump of 37 percent over the prior record.

In all, 205 professionals earned their CTS, 30 attained CTS-D and 20 became CTS-I.

“When I encouraged attendees to come to InfoComm to hone their craft – as well as learn about all the technology innovations that enable exceptional, integrated AV experiences – many took it to heart,” said AVIXA CEO Dave Labuskes, in the AVIXA announcement.

“In addition to everyone who sat for exams, we had nearly 600 people take our intensive three-day courses to kick off the week, more than at any other InfoComm. The show’s evolution over the past several years has been incredible, and the caliber of excited, informed, creative participants continues to propel the AV industry forward,” he said.

Other InfoComm 2019 week highlights included the AVIXA Women’s Council Networking Breakfast, which attracted 283 people, and the approximately 500 people who took part in the inaugural AVIXA Foundation 5K Walk/Run Friday morning.
