PoEWit Technologies, the Fort Lauderdale-Fla.-based manufacturer of PoE lighting, PoE motion detectors, and custom A/V networking solutions, has released its new NS8-4B switch, an affordable, 10-port Gigabit switch. The NS8-4B features four 90-Watt PoE ports and a total power budget of 180 Watts.
The Layer 2 switch supports 802.1Q VLAN tagging, port isolation and IGMP snooping to improve traffic flow. It also features two Gigabit SFP uplink ports for long-distance connections. Its fan-less design makes it ideal for quiet A/V applications.
“As a 10-port switch delivering 180 Watts of 802.3bt PoE, the NS8-4B is quite unique in the Custom Electronics space. It’s a powerful, Layer 2 PoE switch at an affordable price point,” says Dusan Jankov, Co-CEO of PoEWit.
The NS8-4B can support four devices at a maximum of 45 Watts each or two devices at a maximum of 90 Watts each.
In the configuration above, the NS8-4B powers three of PoEWit’s OS-1-PT Outdoor Security Flood Lights. In turn, each OS-1-PT passes power to two additional lights via PoEWit’s PoE Pass-Through feature. Connecting three CAT cables to the NS8-4B can provide power to nine of PoEWit’s flood lights.
