UPDATED: Go Inside Microsoft’s Exhibit Booth at InfoComm 2014

Published: 2014-06-20

Microsoft is exhibiting at InfoComm 2014 this year, and Commercial Integrator’s editor-at-large Craig MacCormack checked out its booth when the show floor opened on Wednesday.

While there he snapped some photos (click here to view). He noted four Perceptive Pixels touchscreens, Surface Pro tablets, as well as charging and network connections.

MacCormack also talked to attendees at the platinum sponsor’s exhibit area. (There were no representatives from Microsoft in the booth at the time for comment.)

Paul Yarin, VP of hardware engineering for Oblong in Los Angeles, was disappointed not to see Lync included in the booth since it is a collaboration tool and Microsoft has 10,000 square feet in the collaboration area of the show floor.

“I expected a little bit more,” he says. “They made a nice environment for people to relax. I think it’s more about brand presence.”

Joshua Drain, IT services professional in the corporate division at Devon Energy in Oklahoma City, wanted to see the newest 82-inch version of Perceptive Pixel as well as Lync.

“It’s a massive footprint to have such a small amount of stuff,” he says. “Maybe they didn’t think AV guys would have any interest in Lync, but we do.”

UPDATED, Friday, June 20, 2 p.m. ET: Microsoft spokeswoman Cherie Hurdstrom didn’t see a problem with Lync not being displayed in Microsoft’s InfoComm 2014 booth. That didn’t mean it wasn’t well-represented on the trade show floor, she says.

“Lync is being demonstrated in multiple booths on the show floor, including Polycom and Crestron,” says Hurdstrom. “Because it was so well represented in partner booths, Microsoft chose to use their booth space to highlight other Microsoft products.”
