Sharp heads to InfoComm 2026 this week with new options perfect for digital signage. Two of the company’s product leads break it all down in Commercial Integrator’s latest exclusive interview.

Ben Hardy, senior product manager, large-format displays, and Zach Arneman, associate product manager, software and solutions, both of Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, walk through the Sharp SDM Player with BrightSign Built-In.

What is the Sharp SDM Player with BrightSign Built-In?

The Sharp SDM Player with BrightSign Built-In integrates a Series 6 BrightSign player into Sharp’s displays through the SDM slot. As Hardy explains, that approach allows “audio, video, power [and] control to all be internal to the product.”

For integrators, that means simpler installs. Arneman notes that you can run one LAN cable for both the display and the BrightSign SDM instead of two data runs. Plus, customers still get BrightAuthor and the CMS platform they’ve come to expect. What’s more, one BrightSign player can daisy-chain content to up to nine displays.

Arneman sums it up plainly, saying, “It just works. The Sharp displays just work. The BrightSign player just works. And now, they just marry right into each other.”

The wide-ranging interview about Sharp and InfoComm 2026 covers more than the SDM player. Hardy previews Sharp’s next-generation all-in-one DVLED, including a 165-inch model coming to InfoComm, built with the same SDM compatibility found across the M Series. Arneman also flags Sharp’s Raspberry Pi SDM solution, paired with Hailo AI accelerator chips, which he says delivers “pretty decent computer vision at a very low wattage at a very low cost.”
