Published: 2017-10-30

The audio company Audio-Technica, a global manufacturer of transducers for over 50 years, is now shipping its U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone.

The Audio-Technica U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone is the latest addition to the UniPoint line of microphones, and serves as a replacement for its U841A microphone.

According to the decades-old audio manufacturer, the Audio-Technica U841R retains the useful features of the model it replaces, and the newly released model adds internal electronics that eliminate the need for an external power module.

Another difference between the previous model and the new U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone is that the the latter incorporates a TA3M output connector and comes with a 25-foot TA3F-to XLRM cable.

Explaining the benefits of the U841R, Audio-Technica says the microphone delivers high levels of audio intelligibility through its low-profile design.

Utilizing UniGuard RFI-shielding technology, the Audio-Technica U841R is engineered to cleanly capture audio for applications that include professional recording, television and conferencing as a surface-mount solution.

Audio-Technica adds the U841R offers users a 360-degree pickup angle, and that it operates on phantom power.

Summarizing the U841R Boundary Microphone:

  • Audio-Technica employs its UniGuard RFI-shielding technology to reject radio frequency interference (RFI) noise
  • The U841R’s small-diameter capsule near boundary eliminates phase distortion to provide clear audio to users
  • Employing a heavy die-cast case and silicone foam bottom pad minimizes the coupling of surface vibrations to the U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone
  • The U841R boundary microphone operates on phantom power
  • Audio-Technica states the U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone features a low-reflectance black finish that helps it blend into a variety of room environments
  • Audio-Technica specifies the U841R to deliver a frequency response of 40Hz to 20kHz, and a rated dynamic range of 105dB
