SOHY Saigon Sky Lounge is pretty aptly named. The entertainment bar and dining venue is perched atop downtown Saigon’s Centec Tower, bringing the sights, sounds and tastes of the city to life each night. But AV integrator DesignLive Technologies recently helped SOHY elevate its sound system with Fulcrum Acoustic speakers.
Between the outdoor lounge space, champagne garden, star dining room and zero gravity cigar room, the SOHY Saigon Sky Lounge had plenty of space and variance for DesignLive to work with.
Challenges at Saigon Sky Lounge
Vietnam is beautiful, but it certainly isn’t known for its moderate weather. Typhoon season hits hard, so extremely durable, weather resistant loudspeakers were essential.
Moisture wasn’t the only weather woe: the city of Saigon is noted for alternating phases of sweltering heat on top of its tropical thunderstorms.
Pinpoint pattern control was another critical element to keep sound from reflecting off varying finishes, including stone, aluminum, and glass. It also prevented sound spill-over into a five-star high-rise hotel right next door.
[related] Lastly, SOHY required powerful, yet compact loudspeakers with the capability to amplify voice, instrumental performances, and headliner DJs without detracting from the club’s elegant aesthetic.
How Fulcrum Acoustic Speakers Raised the Bar
“One of our proposal’s big advantages was that Fulcrum Acoustic’s compact loudspeakers could provide high-fidelity, high-powered audio while easily integrating into SOHY’s very limited interior design provisions,” explains DesignLive Technologies owner Phu Tran Pham.
“Twenty-one Fulcrum Prophile P 8-inch coaxial speakers and 29 pole-mounted, weather-resistant DX896-WR dual 8-inch speakers provide even coverage, focusing immersive sound inward to the venue and away from reflective architectural surfaces and neighboring structures.”
Fulcrum WR enclosures provide weather resistance in light-weight packages and feature triple-plated grilles with stainless steel mounting hardware.
