Listen to this mini episode of AV+, recorded fresh from the show floor at Integrated Systems Europe 2018:
Redefining “Smart Technology” … What to Expect Out of Commercial Tech After 2018
You, as an integrator, shouldn’t accept less than a product that is multi-purpose yet simple to install in 2018. At least, that’s what many exhibitors told me today on the second day of Integrated Systems Europe 2018.
It seems that all commercial tech these days needs to be “smart” — and I don’t necessarily mean connected to the IoT (though that’s increasingly important to some verticals).
What I mean by “smart technology” here is that these devices need to have an inherent simple set-up, yet have the complexity to be used in vertical after vertical.

Products like Biamp’s Devio — that sets up quickly and tracks different speakers in a room wherever they move — is a great example of a product that, despite being associated with a particular area (sound), is actually a solution which is implementable in any vertical.
Another example: Christie’s new Guardian software, which automatically makes real-time realignments to projection mapping if a projector is bumped slightly.
These are “smart,” too, insofar as they are inter-compatible. But each of them is capable of doing more in and of itself, no matter the application.
New Biamp CEO Comments on Company’s Future
Rashid Skaf is not kidding around when it comes to positioning Biamp as a leader in the AV integration space.
He envisions multiple major acquisitions in the semi-near future. With product after product released in the last few months alone, this could be a big year for the company. It’ll be interesting to see if their booth grows in size next year, too.
