Peerless-AV, designer and manufacturer of audio and video solutions and accessories, announced the global availability of its new Smart City Kiosks.
The Aurora, Ill.-based company designed the new Single (KOP55XHB) and Dual-Sided (KOP55XHB2) models in response to customer feedback and demand.
Per a statement, the key upgrades facilitate a simplified installation for running power and data cabling. At the same time, it offers a dedicated storage space for media components. The Dual-Sided model is brand new to the range, says Peerless-AV. It thus offers increased screen space and opportunities for revenue-generating digital advertising and wayfinding. The Smart City Kiosks also provide supreme versatility in a wide range of verticals. These include including retail, government, transportation and visitor attractions.
Redesigning the Smart City Kiosks
“Peerless-AV is pleased to announce that our popular, redesigned Smart City Kiosks are now available and we are already fulfilling orders globally,” says Nick Belcore, EVP of Peerless-AV. “The new dual-sided version is a fantastic addition to the range; enabling advertisers to tailor their digital signage content, and target and engage with a wider audience in outdoor urban environments; from airports and stadiums to bus shelters and shopping centers.”
Moreover, the KOP55XHB models incorporate one 55-inch Xtreme High Bright Outdoor Display (XHB554). Meanwhile, the KOP55XHB2 models feature two 55-inch Xtremes, installed back to back. The two screens can also play content independently or can operate from a duplicate feed.
The Xtreme Displays offer full HD1080P resolution for a bright and crisp picture, even when placed in direct sunlight. Its fully-sealed, IP66 rated design prevents the ingress of foreign materials from entering the display. This includes water, dust, moisture and insects. Additionally, it has an operating temperature of -31 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Additional Features
The displays can be enhanced with an optional IR touch overlay (KIRP-XHB4). With this, it can detect up to 10 touch points, whether finger, gloved hand or stylus. What’s more, all of it comes in a convenient plug-and-play design. Peerless-AV adds that it factored in installation simplicity into all design aspects of the Smart City Kiosks.
A base cover allows power and data cabling to run upwards from the bottom center. Additionally, secure doors allow quick access for maintenance purposes. An IP55 rated media cabinet provides a spacious, enclosed storage area for AV components and integrated fans for active cooling.

The KOP55XHB and KOP55XHB2 models are now available to order in black or silver and with or without 4-inch, 100-watt waterproof speakers, the company notes.
