RISE Spotlight Event to Highlight Role of Smart Buildings in Post-COVID World

Published: March 8, 2021

Integrated Systems Events’ fifth RISE Spotlight—set for tomorrow—will focus on smart buildings and how the technology and tactics are changing across the landscape as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the U.S. and around the world.

Working with The Next Web and program consultant Bob Snyder (content chairman of ISE’s Smart Building Conference), the organizers have put together a two-hour program entitled “Smart Buildings: The Way Forward.”

“As we all look towards some normality returning later this year, this month’s discussions will focus on the role of smart solutions in helping buildings to reopen in a safe, COVID-compliant manner,” the ISE announcement says.

The discussion will delve into the new expectations of buildings that the pandemic has brought relating to hygiene, social distancing and a sharp increase in remote working and the solutions that are being deployed to meet them.

The RISE Spotlight event will also present some startups in the smart building space.

A highlight of every RISE Spotlight is the ISE Reporter Roundtable. For this edition, the panel will include Angelica Krystle Donati, head of business development for Donati S.p.A. and CEO of Donati Immobiliare Group, and Matthew Marson, U.K. sector director of manufacturing and technology at Arcadis.

Under the moderation of Callum Booth, writer and editor at TNW, they will discuss how the need to provide healthier, more productive and more engaging environments has changed the importance of certain types of functionality as well as the challenges involved in selecting, implementing and running integrated building smart solutions.

For the On the Sofa with ISE interview, Chris Nouveau, digital advisor at Microsoft, will talk one-to-one with Booth about digital transformation in the context of smart buildings.

Inside the RISE Spotlight Schedule

In AVIXA Insights, Sean Wargo, AVIXA’s senior director of market intelligence, will present an overview of smart building technology revenues as highlighted in the association’s IOTA reports.

Another unique RISE Spotlight feature is Startup Nation. This month, Lee Butz, CEO and founder of District Technologies, will select half-a-dozen recently established companies in the smart building space that have attracted investment from District.

Representatives of two of these startups – Nikolas Samios, co-founder and managing partner of PROPTECH1, and Marc Gille-Seperhi, founder and CEO at Thing Technologies—will present short elevator pitches for their companies’ innovations for shaping the future of buildings and cities.

The event will conclude with Watercooler Virtual Meets. Attendees can select from two simultaneous networking sessions, with the opportunity to participate in live on-screen conversations with industry experts.

In one, Pip Evans, director at NV Integration, and Ed Wenck, content director at CEDIA, will discuss KNX in the Home.

In Smart Buildings and Pro AV, Snyder and Wargo will take a deeper dive into the association’s IOTA statistics to uncover some important trends within the smart building industry.
