March 5: Join WAVIT, NSCA & AVIXA Women’s Council for ‘The Future is WE’ Event on International Women’s Day

Women in AV/IT (WAVIT), the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women in the AV and IT industries, NSCA and the AVIXA Women’s Council will host an International Women’s Day event, “The Future is WE: Women & Equity” where the AV/IT community can come together to empower, connect and forge a path towards women’s equality. The event, organized by WAVIT, NSCA and the AVIXA Women’s Council, aims to raise awareness and create an industry that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.

“Mark your calendars and pull up a chair for an inspiring virtual session that explores the opportunities and challenges faced by women as catalysts for change in various fields, including technology/audiovisual, entrepreneurship, business and leadership. Our keynote speaker, TeLisa Daughtry, an award-winning serial social entrepreneur, conscious technologist, and STEM/DEI+Belonging Advocate, will share empowering stories, examine current trends, and inspire actionable steps towards creating a more inclusive and equitable tomorrow for women,” says WAVIT president, Gina Sansivero.

“We encourage the community to get involved for #IWD2024. Each year the theme is selected to bring about the largest day of engagement. But for us, it’s not just the day, it’s a month-long celebration to forge a more inclusive world for women collectively,” says Brandy Alvarado-Miranda, founder/director of WAVIT. “Get involved. Like our tagline states, ‘Ripples make waves,’ and you can too!”

Strike the #InspireInclusion Pose

She continues, “We’re encouraging the community to strike the official #InspireInclusion pose (Heart Hands) and submit photos and/or short videos by Feb. 20. Submissions will be featured on our social media channels, our website and newsletter. You can find out more information via our website event page. Submissions are open to all. Feel free to share this opportunity with colleagues and friends in the industry. Together, we can make International Women’s Day a collective celebration of support, advancement and inclusion.”

  • Photo Submission: Upload your high-res photo to the Google Drive.
  • Video Submission: Record a short video answering the question, “What does inspire inclusion mean to you?” via the MarketScale Studio.

WAVIT encourages all to attend the session on building equity, allyship and leadership to thrive in the AV/IT industry. Here, attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with TeLisa Daughtry and join the celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
